36 y/o Retired Olympic Champion, Michael Phelps has come out AGAINST trans women to swim against cis gender women citing the Lia Thomas story is "very complicated" and that there needs to be a "level playing field" to be fair!!

The most successful and decorated olympian of all time with 28 medals spoke to CNN on the issue of trans athletes to doping in order to to secure a competetive advantage in the pool

He was adamant that something has to be done on the current NCAA guidelines after Thomas is blowing away female records though didn't say how it should be changed

He said "I think this leads back to the organizing committees again because it has to be a level playing field. That's something that we all need. Because that's what sports are. For me, i dont know where this is going to go, i don't know what's going to happen"

He said he simply wants to see fairness in sports and believes people should be comfortable in their own skin but sports should be on an even playing field

He doesn't know what will happen to the sport in the future and stated it was his sport and his whole entire career and doesn't want to see it turn out this way where females have to compete against trans women breaking records

The NCAA plans to review its current guidelines for male to female trans athletes as currently trans women can compete against any other female athlete if they undergone suppression treatment but critics say that is insufficient.

None of thomas' fellow swimmers voiced their opinion publicly but some spoke out anonymously on their concerns stating Thomas is arrogant and their coach is obsessed with winning

Thomas was recently beaten by Iszac Henig, a female to male trans swimmer who had their breast removed and Phelps has NO PROBLEM with female to male trans athletes competing in cis male sports.

I do not oppose it, with some conditions based upon an understanding of HRT on the human body over certain time periods.

Edit: And as an aside (and I think Jangles points this out in at least one of these videos), this fearmongering about trans people in sports also impacts intersex people. There's little to no consideration for intersex people in sports, despite the fact that there are, you know, millions of intersex people.

Let anyone compete in any sport. Allow all the drugs. I wanna see people jumping 10 feet in the air and breaking the hoop like in NBA Jam.
