In theory, everybody will be getting UBI (universal basic income) and won't be working in an all automated future and have to stay home doing nothing and going nowhere 7 days a week, so they'll spend all their time plugged into the Metaverse as an escape from reality.

It's no joke.

There are some investing in the metaverse alternate world and buying up real estate.

That means when it gets huge, your kids or grand kids will be paying big money to buy that virtual house and picket fence so to speak to live out their best life.

again metaverse looks like a laughing stock, vr chat, weird surreal games like beat sabre and tetris effect seam to be the main bread and butter of vr

after that theres cockpit games, single player games like alyx, and maybe architectural demos as a real world application

We're a VERY long time away from the reality of Ready Player One, if we ever get there.

However, a lot of people are into VR now thanks to the Occulus. It has a pretty big sales spike and folks are jumping on this new bandwagon now. Places like VRChat, Horizon Worlds and Altspace are growing. Even celebrities, like Snoop Dog are promoting it and have made money from it.
