I haven't really been following this, so I don't know the details, but leaving the discussion entirely out of schools for children (elementary, maybe middle school) seems like it might be right. I'm also not entirely convinced that the discussion belongs in high schools, based on my personal experience at least. Social pressure tends to factor into development. Giving teachers & mentors to really young kids a platform to stand on & exude influence.... Is that a great idea, or should we just leave it between the kids, parents, and their peers?

What i see is a lot of high schoolers even totally failing to take advantage of the tools being afforded to them.... To date. I'm not sure stuff like prom is even appropriate. Okay, well, prom maybe, but the idea of freshman and middle schoolers looking for a date to a school dance is a little disturbing to me. Always has been. It's not just about LGBT rights. We need a system that encourages kids to develop into strong, smart people under minimimal pressure, and not jump the gun on their sexuality and prematurely establishing a sexual identity in public.

I think that for the most part sexuality shouldnt really be discussed in school beyond a health class, which parents should have the option to opt their kids out of, but I think in context of a health class that discussing these issues should be allowed so ultimately I would oppose this.

Based on the headline I thought it was some PC law banning saying things like "thqt's gay" which didnt make much sense for Florida. This makes more sense.
