Soooo much better than Legacy of the Duelist in terms of presentation and engine. It's not as fast as YGOPro, but you'll find a match against someone of any skill level in 2 seconds instead of wading through the pool of 10 people active on the YGOpro.

Very fair card unlock system, they have a universal pack that you can get staples like Pot of Desires from, then you can temporarily unlock themed packs built around all the archetypes. And whenever you get extras, you can turn them into craft points, and then select from all cards in the system to create whichever cards you need.

The only thing that makes me a little sad is there doesn't appear to be any anime references in terms of avatars or anything. I'm guessing they thought it'd conflict with the game's presentation, and maybe they wanted to differentiate it more from Duel Links.

Oh and the banlist rocks. Very lenient, unlike LotD which used the horrific and oppressive Worlds banlist.

it reawakened my love of the world chalice archetype
ranked duels were fun until i got to the top of gold and low platinum rankings then the duels were all examples of what i hate about modern yugioh and its anti fun nature

but the lower ranked duels were fun

maxx c is lame but I'll take it if it means getting to use jet synchron in my junk speeder deck

They have Ash Forehead as a "mate" but not best girl Ghost Ogre. Im small sad.

It is really good though. Just wish i was better at deckbuilding. Trying to make something basic out of three pendulum starters lol

What deck are you even trying to build, because that's a very bad hand.

Like you basically require hand traps to deal with the opponent, because otherwise they can do that.

Well let's unpack this.
1) For a lot of decks, setting a monster in face down defense is practically admitting defeat. You expend a resource warding off a single attack or destruction effect. Even a basic tuner deck like you appear to be running, with some staples and the right extra deck monsters, could melt 8k life points in 1 turn (or equivalently set up an unbreakable board and win the following turn) when that little resistance is going on.

2) Trap cards have a weird place in the modern meta. Some decks run as few as 0. That's because they have two intrinsic disadvantages: you can't use most of them if your opponent goes first and sets up, and they're vulnerable on your field as you wait for the conditions to activate them.

Battle traps like Mirror Force are basically dead. By the time your opponent is at battle phase they've built a board and likely either destroyed your face down or can negate it.

Some modern trap cards can be activated from the hand, like Infinite Impermanence or Evenly Matched. There's also a subset of monster cards that can activate from your hand on your opponent's turn, like Ash Blossom, which have helped make trap cards less used.

Floodgate cards that present certain cards from being used are situationally very strong, and in addition a lot of archetypes have trap cards that can do stuff like activate from the GY to offset their slowness.

It's been pretty good so far. Wasted more gems then I should have because I had no idea what kind of deck I wanted to play.

And wasted more just getting the hang of the deck building mechanics, and having no clue how hard SR and UR would be to farm afterward. And you'd need a crap ton of. Especially UR for the extra deck.

The default structure decks are not competitively viable in any way. Now you can use them as a base to build a deck.

No offense, but the only players who sprout this dribble are casuals who haven't touched the game for like, 20 years. Are probabaly only familiar with the first anime season of ygo and the abriged series. Return, then complain how much the games changed, how much reading there is, and how much, lol, 'better' the game was back in their day.

All while never even attemping learn, ask, or adapt to the new game.

They also tend to be like "this isn't how it used to be" disregarding OTKs and Yata-locks of the original meta, because that's not how they played in second grade with their classmates.

this is why cards get banned

ban cards dont create a whole archetyped based on OTK or locks

If you're unwilling to even learn a game as easy as modern ygo then forget about becoming pro or even a casual.

But if you're that stubborn then use lobby mode and or forum's to find like minded players. Cutting off cards to a x date is out of the question but limiting yourself to non meta decks is very much so.

No, I meant along the lines of finding other players who prefer utilizing non meta decks. You're still have to farm the cards normally.
