53 y/o Dex Briggs, a longtime Nike Marketing Manager was FIRED after he REFUSED to supply his COVID-19 vaccination status to a third party verification service used by the giant!!

He claims he was fired in Beaverton, Oregon after 26 years despite being fully vaccinated and offering to show his bosses his vax card.

He is married with a son who said he found the company's verification process to worrying to comply with where i sees vaccination records uploaded to software created by a 3rd party firm

He said that firm would then have permission to share information with others to confirm the vaccination but claims has fallen victim to identity theft and found it too great of breah of privacy

He says "I have my vaccination card. I'm quite willing to show you that. But i'm not willing to give my personal information to this outside company and any other company they want to share it with, without even telling me who they are"

Nike has 14,000 employees near Beaverton and announced its mandate back in September. Although Biden's mandate for private firms with 100 or more workers to be vaccinated was struck down, private companies can still choose to do so with Nike did.

The state of Oregon is working on its own proof of vaccination card similar ot the one used in New York where it can be downloaded while Nike turned to third party vaccine verifiers in a bid to offer digital verification of workers status

Briggs said he wasn't initally alarmed since he was already vaccinated but now with proof of vaccination he is not willing to comply with because they were once victims of identity theft

He said "What are they trying to accomplish with this policy? That should be all that matters. Why is this policy, i don't know, so restrictive?"

Briggs also respects people who REFUSE the vaccine for RELIGIOUS OBJECTIONS as Nike did NOT allow that as an exemption as well

He accused the company of playing political games with people's lives and chose not to comply and he said it was THEIR LOSS to be losing someone like him who devoted 26 years and could have been a great asset to them still.

This.

From what I have read, I don't like the guy or his politics, but he is 100% right here.

You want to see my vaccine receipts: I keep copies in my wallet. You want to talk to my doctor to verify: I'll sign a limited release and you can pay her $50 for the thirty second conversation. Want me to share my private medical information with some sketchy, fly by night, third party that appeared out of nowhere and will disappear just as quickly: get fucked.

He bought a fake vaccine card didn't he? I really don't buy his identity theft paranoia story. Is there any objective reason to distrust this 3rd party company to verify his vaccination status?

Completely unconstitutional and illegal to be fired and that guy can legally sue.

That's the million dollar question, Nike has not responded to comment (as yet) and the media sources I can find on the matter have been unable to identify the third party company. It looks like Nike isn't even telling it's employees what the name of the third party is.

Super sketchy.

What federal law is being broken? AFAIK it's perfectly legal for companies to mandate vaccinations and fire people who don't comply.

Now we're in Strangetown. Why such secrecy? If they're going to mandate vaccines they should probably be a little more transparent.

He was willing to comply though and provided the proof to his direct supervisor (according to him) if he has an email from his supervisor acknowledging such, or if his supervisor is willing to testify on his behalf, then he has a case.

Nike has had several days to respond to reporters requests, but so far radio silence; this will snowball on them if they continue to hide the identity of the third party. If it's a reputable company, there is no harm in allowing oversight.

I wonder if they signed an NDA with the third party as part of the contract, that would not look good.

Yeah, the whole "we can't tell you where we're sending your health information" thing makes Nike's position seem a lot less legit. Dude should be able to sue for that under HIPAA.

It's not impossible, but with Nike refusing to name the third party, I'm inclined to believe that his vaccination is legit and he's just wary of releasing his health information when there can be no accountability for it.

Now, my guess is that Nike's being so secretive because there actually is no third party verification service. They're just saying that there is to deter people from trying to use fake cards, but for the sake of saving money, they're just having managers tick a box and file the information away without doing anything to verify it. That seems more likely than that they're engaged in some grand conspiracy to give people's vaccination statuses to some third party that's going to sell them, since I don't think vaccination status is going to be all that valuable (except possibly to ambulance chasers that are banking on serious long-term side effects and want to be first in line to handle any potential class action suits).
