I honestly don't like the direction of marketing Ryza went in. But if it gets more people to play the games then it's fine I guess.

I'm like 8 hours into Rorona right now and aside from one party member's outfit in particular it isn't really fanservice-y, but that's my only experience with the series. Never touched either Ryza games so no comment on that.

The games themselves aren't sexual(ized) at all despite some of the official merchandise and artwork.

I enjoyed the 3 Arland games on PS3 long ago. The series was cute.

I've got distracted from playing Ryza 2 by other titles, but the first was a really wholesome adventure game. Ryza's voluptuous design was just a welcome bonus and I recall hearing Ryza 2 maintains the same the same kind of atmosphere.

Now, I will be speaking out of turn since I didn't finish Rorona, and only finished Ryza of the entire series, but a dream Atelier girl for me would have the artstyle of Hidari, specifically the elegant and classy design of Ayesha, but with Ryza's body type. Give me that, and revive the time limits (if you can manage a solid story around it), and I'll be satisfied.

It's sorta been slowly transitioning from a series for little girls to a series for horny Otaku for a while now. Because horny Otaku are more profitable than... anyone else really.

As far as I know, the non-Ryza Atelier games' characters aren't as fanservice-y.

Also, the merchandise seems to be worse in this area than the game itself.

Lmao the merch certainly is. The games don't have as much fan service as you'd expect or at least the one I played didn't. They are still shit though

The games have had pervy moments since the beginning. But they are way more substance than fanservice.

Ryza is the most overly lewded MC that I can think of, and she has only been the subject of 2 games. And I'm sure that drove a lot of sales. Were going back to Sophie real soon, so we will see what they do with that.

Really, you'll be sorely disappointed if you play the game for fanservice. But gameplay, specifically the crafting -> exploring for more materials to craft more things loop is quite addictive.
