I like the memories, mostly. The character designs made it hard to take things seriously at times though.

Bought Code Vein for $10 a couple Black Fridays ago.

I generally dislike 3D SoulsBorne games due to the clunky combat. Any chance I like this one?

I don't know which Soulsborne you played that made you feel like the series has clunky combat. I can understand camera being an issue if you like to strictly fight bosses locked-on but the combat as a whole being clunky? I have played over thousands of games in my life and I personally think Dark Souls has the best methodical combat, Bloodborne has the best dodge and slash combat and Sekiro has the best combat in video games period.

Soulsborne is like the definition of clunky combat for me, based on Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, and Bloodborne. But also, I struggle to think of 3D games without at least somewhat clunky combat.

As for Code Vein, I own it but haven't played it so I can't vote.

I don't even begin to understand how one can find Bloodborne clunky. Unless you're holding framerate drops against the gameplay.

Only FromSoftware games that I've played are the Lost Kingdoms and Eternal Ring, so I have no first-hand experience with Soulsbourne games, but I've played several deemed Souls-like. I couldn't play more than an hour or two of Code Vein because of its clunky/cumbersome combat, which is a shame because I customized my character to have shoulder angel/devil in the form of snowmen.

I highly recommend to those not a fan of the plodding combat of Code Vein and similar games to give Darksiders III a whirl.
