Wow, that was a great episode. It was entirely a Mandalorian episode.

Definitely wasn't expecting something like this, though they did basically say his story will pick up here back last year.

Yup. What TC said. Of course it was a great episode, because it wasn't just an episode with Mando, it wasan episode of Mando.

I'm wondering why they even bothered with BoBF's title card and end music. :-P

Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow, even those NR pilots.

More insight on what separates those seeking the return of Mandalore versus those living in covert. Fallout from Mando removing his helmet at the end of S2 means a return to Mandalore more early than he probably expected.

Also I don't know how Mando plans on fitting bounties into that N1, but it's a nice little techy bit of fanservice watching them put it together and fly it.

Best epi of the season. It's obvious that Jon cares more about Mando than Fett--the writing and story are so much better...I feel like he only did this Fett thing for fans

Also I was wondering if that whole commercial flight and surrendering his weapons was going to pan out to anything but I guess it was meant to show that he really needs his own ship as opposed to flying coach.

@RISEofCHRISTIAN Minor little spoilers: No, this is basically a sequel episode to Mando Season 2. However, it ends with it tying into the Boba story, so you'll want to go back and watch those too afterwards.

It's more just that Star Wars is one big TV show now. They are marketing it as multiple shows, but it's really just one big tv show with many seasons to come.

Really enjoyed this Season 3 Episode 0 of The Mandalorian.

Yup. All new. I admit I sang the Halo theme for a bit tho.

I was grinning throughout the whole episode. Especially during the test flight.

Those N1 Starfighters were the fucking coolest back in the prequels.

I don't know shit about this ship, but that little bubble behind the cockpit which I assume is supposed to house a droid might work? The mechanic said she stripped out the droid connector. It will look a little goofy though. The ship in general looks cool, but I got the vibe that Mando lived on the Razor Crest, so him agreeing to swap over to a car instead of a mobile home is a little weird to me.

And imagine the best episode of a TV show not even being part of the TV show lmao

Forgot which show I was watching. Can see why Mando flying commercial would make a shitty first ep of season 3. The back seat in that Naboo starfighter is gonna suck.

It should be suitable enough for his short term goals at least, which at present is seeing Grogu again and going to Mandalore.

Ok, so Disney is fucking genius. We just got conformation about a Fallen Order sequel, and we get a BD in this episode. Brilliant. Also, the best episode of the show by far. Mando is so much more interesting of a character. Are they going to make Grogu a foundling to get around Din not being able to take his helmet off anymore?

Im gonna be the contrarian here and say this episode was disappointing. I dont need to know what Mando was up to this whole time, have him show up in the N1 and let people speculate until Mando season 3 comes out to give backstory. To have a show literally called the Book of Boba Fett and then dedicate a whole episode to another character, and not even have your title character appear in the episode, is disgraceful. I guess Ill trudge through whatever episodes have Mando in them but Im not bothering with the rest of the series. Its pretty clear the creators dont give a fuck about the story arc, so why should any of us?

It was a veryweird episode, yeah. It was as long as any episode this season yet nothing happened. If they had maybe condensed it into the first half of the ep. and then spent the 2nd half with Mando reuniting with Shand and Boba it would have been better. Instead it was just basically a bunch of meaningless, and not even particularly well-made or exciting, action scenes strung together.

Nice seeing The Armorer and Amy Sedaris character again though.

I have this low-key theory that this episode has elements that were going to be in S3 but got sandwiched in here late in the production game because the showrunners knew that BoBF was going to lowball, between the show's rumored lower budget and the capabilities of their 61-year-old action star. They saw the writing on the wall, couldn't have the entire show flop, so they gave us more Mando.

I guess Ill trudge through whatever episodes have Mando in them but Im not bothering with the rest of the series.

Oh I'm with you in that I'm almost completely checked out on the Boba Fett story, of which there remains two episodes.

Which is weird as hell, because he was great when he showed up in Mando S2.

It wasn't like he was doing crazy stunts or flips but they managed to have Tem play a very menacing and intense Boba

If they do live-action Rex in Ahsoka or something he'll probably be great in that tho

Yeah I don't want to imply that I'm holding Morrison responsible for the show. A good production team can utilize the limitations of the actor to proper effect. It just doesn't seem to be happening in BoBF.

And I've talked about this already, but him and Shand don't really make for an interesting main group to focus on.

I wasn't a fan of the N1 being hot roded out. It's just weird seeing a star fighter with an exposed air filter (I know its not actually an air filter) and rumbling like an ICE.

I'm just not a fan of the N1 only because it's kinda a downgrade from the Razor Crest

Like the Razor Crest had facilities, a bedroom, a storage place for bounties. It was a ship ship.

This is like trading in a mobile home for a racecar

Personally, I think this episode was always the plan. Kathleen Kennedy said that the next chapter of the Mandalorian would come out December 2021. This was 2 weeks before the S2 finale where Book of Boba Fett was revealed.

Furthermore, Favreau clarified that while it's own show and that season 3 of The Mandalorian was still happening, internally, this show was labeled starting with episode "301" instead of "101". And that it's more of a season 2.5 to them.

Also Kathleen Kennedy said all these characters are ultimately connected to Din Djarin and that all the shows are eventually heading towards a major crossover event.

But yeah, Fett was pretty fierce in Mandalorian, but he's been slacking hard here. Feel like it may be a budget thing maybe.

Pod racers in Episode 1 had an almost high cammed rumble most of the time so it's not out of universe, especially Sebulba's.

Honestly I loved the hot rodded aspect, a carbureted N1 starfighter is so ridiculous it works to me. Better 'hot rod' example than the Mod Gang.

Cool episode, but I feel mixed on not focusing on Boba Fett at all. It is basically a prelude to Mandalorian Season 3, which is nice, but I think they could have at least had some scenes moving the Boba story forward. Plenty of fun fan service too with the Naboo starfighter (wizard lmao), the darksaber duel with a Viszla, Mando flying through what I think was the Episode 1 podracer course, and probably a fuel other things.
