Social constructs have effects.

Because something being a social construct doesn't mean it doesn't have real effects on people.

Because the social construct of race has been, and still is, used to disadvantage certain groups of people.

Because we can't just say "a social construct doesn't exist anymore" and have it magically vanish, including all its effects, and even if we did, we're clearly not all saying that right now.

Law is a social construct, government is a social construct, literally money is a social construct, lots of things that affect your life are social constructs.

The problems of systemic racism can be addressed through doing absolutely fucking nothing, affirmative action, or massive political purges of racist owners and politicians immediately following the Civil War. We failed (on purpose, because we're a shitty country) to do the latter, so we're stuck with the middle option.
