I went over to my buddies place last night and he had his PS2 out so we decided to play some Guitar Hero. First time playing it in years.

It's not the kinda game I'd ever play at home by myself, but it's a blast when you're hanging out and drinking with a few friends.

Rock Band can be pretty funny when drinks and buddies are involved.

I've never tried that one. Only the PS2 editions of GH.

I really really wish that rhythm games took off harder in the USA. I was very very competitive with Dance Dance Revolution in my teens and would travel all over the east coast for tournaments. Konami was the company that made DDR and in Japan they had a full line of rhythm games under their Bemani branding. It wasn't until Round 1 arcades came to America that a lot of these bemani games were actually in American arcades. There is a pretty cool underground community involved in hacking arcade versions of Bemani games to run on windows PCs and there are a few people who will manufacture arcade replicas of controllers for use on these hacked arcade games. It's SUCH a niche genre of gaming, but it feels so cool to be a part of something so underground

I remember playing the hell out of it during high school, then figuring out how to load custom songs on the PC port of GH3. Might have been around 2013 when I stopped having an interest in the series, but I'll still watch people on YouTube FC stupid songs.

Some Rock Band songs I care about dropped this last week so I bought them and, man, I am out of playing shape. Playing "Rock You Like a Hurricane" (which wasn't one of the songs that came out this week but I bought anyway since I meant to earlier) I could actually feel my left fingers becoming tingly and numb.

I really hope Microsoft brings this series back. We dont need yearly releases, just a Guitar Hero Ultimate Edition or something

I miss it. I only quit playing because my guitars broke and they quit selling the guitars.

I played GH3 because I had a Wii and loved it.

Tried World Tour for the first time within the last year and it wasn't nearly as good. I'm sure if you were doing it as a full band it would be fun, but the guitar parts got worse.
