Uh.... the hierarchy of needs is just that, it's different stages of "needs" - as in, even at the Self-actualization stage you still have needs....Like Partner acquisition, Parenting, Utilizing and developing talents and abilities and Pursuing goals....

Am I right to assume that someone in that system does not actually feel anything they touch and would likewise not feel themselves be touched?

That seems like a reason that the technology would be pushed even harder. Youd probably have a significant portion of the population more than willing to climb into a pod for the rest of their life if it meant unlimited touchy feely virtual reality (TFVR).

"We've had too many complaints about using violence on enemies, so we've removed the option of attacking from everyone's avatars." - Such virtual worlds would be really vulnerable to this, in an extreme way. a company doesn't just control what you see, hear - but actually "do". That's pretty scary, especially because they'd no doubt fuck it up, multiple times.

I mean, I'm pretty sure we can all agree that playing an FPS with a community that has the median culture of a 12 year old boy is unpleasant, no?

Add on top of that, this "game" is pretty much only social interaction. You're not going through and sticking it to a player after they've died, you're literally ruining the whole experience for people.

I bought a Quest 2 during the holidays to play RE4 and was really impressed by how fun it is. Doubt I ever play the console version again because the VR version is much better.

Of course you'll get motion sickness when you start out but you'll get use to it in a few days and especially if you have a fan blowing on you.

I actually believe VR gaming is the future but the "Metasverse" a VR social hub is definitely a gimmick right now. Facebook should just focus more on the gaming section.

Pretty much VR has proven that if you brain sees a ton of motion and action you'll body will heat up like you were there which causes the motion sickness. A fan is a good way to keep you cool and relieve it.
