I mean, a simple example: low income housing in good school districts is almost universally fought against by middle class constituents (NIMBYs). Middle class very frequently fight against increases in taxes to cover social programs that differentially help the poor, as a general rule.

The things that are most immediately necessary for the poor are policies that are not popular among the middle class.

Like, yeah, there are things that would help middle class and poor people. But these things are usually not the first thing that someone who is poor might need.

Yea seeing Kyle Kulinski and Krystal Ball episodes get removed and people calling them right wing was hilarious.
They are 100% right wing lmao. Ball spends her whole show just nodding along and agreeing to whatever her Christofascist cohost says.

The titles of his videos are often designed to delight or infuriate, depending on the viewers political stance, leaning heavily on incredulous clickbait titles such as: Thought Biden Couldnt Sink Any Lower?? THINK AGAIN!!, Did Liberals Use Feminism to Justify Afghan Cluster f***?, SHOCKING Wuhan Evidence: Did Fauci LIE?, and So...Trump was RIGHT About Clinton & Russia.
So he's very obviously on the far right, then?

This video just posted an hour ago. Goes pretty hard against Bezos. Doesnt particularly strike me as either left or right wing, but definitely seems like what my understanding is of a populist position.

I dont know, if someone cant elaborate on why populism is bad, Im going to have to believe that people who speak out against it are just temporarily embarrassed elites.
Populism isn't left or right because it isn't an ideology, it's just a rhetorical tactic used to get stupid people to support whatever you're doing.

I think you're thinking of that other guy when Krystal was on the hill. Also she didn't nod along everything he said, just when they had common ground

Most people are just idiots when it comes to the political spectrum now. I get called communist all the time because people view Biden as the Far-Left. If you aren't a conservative and hate Biden, some people literally can't comprehend you being so "extreme left". Their heads explode when I go on to also rail against China and communism.

This basically.

All.anyone does on this board and various other internet circles is call someone they have a mild disagreement with the exact far opposite of their own personal political stance.

Everyone is trying to destroy any sense of nuance and over simplify everything to hell and back.

Most people just want to root for a team and have little to no interest in truth.

Yeah this is fair. All the identity politics stuff and to some degree racial justice stuff is just a distraction from workers rights type issues which is what we should really be worrying about.

That wasn't the point. The point was that "the working class" certainly isn't homogenous and that the section that mostly get appeased are those in the middle class and not the poor.

The biggest issue with left-wing politics right now is that the only talking points that have any traction are these big ideas, but not the small simple immediate things we can do to help those who need it the most. In fact, there's a sufficient amount of bitching, by left wing people, about policies that preferentially help the poor, because they don't help everyone that's not a trillionaire.

I'd hardly say the middle class is getting taken care of.

There are lots of populist policies that help both the poor and middle class,

In my opinion trying to pit the middle class against the poor is very counter-productive, because the poor, the middle class, and even the slightly upper middle class all have so much more in common with regards to needs and goals than the top 1%.

Political tribalism isn't working, they were unable to pass universal healthcare in California even with huge public support. This is because IMO the two-party system pits people with similar interests against each other and ultimately gives people a false choice between democratic and republican anti-populist institutionalists.

When the bulk of the population unites on our common goals (which are many) I think we stand the best chance of actually getting change.

This is why I support populism, it encourages the bulk of the population to work together to improve society for the most people.
