Who? In what way are they crazy? Has this caused problems for you, or for other people?

That would be me.

lol the stories i could tell. my dads family is an absolute mess, full up with drunk psychopaths. the only "normal" one out of that group of assholes was the mother and i suspect she was only that way because she had a huge tumor removed from her brain in the 60s/70s and wasn't all there.

I often have to remind myself to be thankful that my dad is the most sane of my grandfather's sons.

And my maternal grandmother is basically John Hammond from Jurassic Park without his vast fortune and with one foot even further out of reality.

Not that I'm aware of. Some evangelicals and anti-vaxxers, but no one who's like a murderer or schizophrenic or anything like that.

my family is all dysfunctional and usually when i wind up calling them on it, and having a nervous breakdown from being surrounded with toxic people they tell me that everything is perfectly normal and im the crazy one. i'm also the only one in my age range in the family that has been able to hold a job, hasn't been to prison, got a degree in college, owns his own house, etc.

also it has caused constant problems in my life. my dating life has been a total failure because i am scared that anyone rejecting me has good reason to since they're detecting the dysfunction that is in my family. i am ashamed to introduce anyone i date to my family. i regularly get into arguments with my brother because he treats my mom like crap in which my mom turns on me and tells me that i'm causing problems. i've been through a lot of psychotherapy and none of it has helped, because i always am being treated by some middle aged, out of touch kook that doesnt actually know how to help. these days after negative fallout with them it usually mentally incapacitates me for a week. this weekend being a prime example, where i didnt even get out of bed on monday.

Lol 2 of my mom's sibling have schizophrenia and I've been diagnosed with it too. I always consider it "not that bad" then I see it sharing a sentence with the word murderer like this and think maybe it is

My apologies, I didn't mean to say that schizophrenia was as bad as murder. Its the condition I tend to associate the most with the word crazy due to the hallucinations and delusions. I read up on it a little bit and its more treatable than I'd realized. Are you taking medications/seeing a therapist for it?

My sister. Idk what her exact deal is but it's clear as day when she takes herself off her meds (because she was feeling better, no shit Karen, that would be the meds doing their thing).
She invents these wild tales of my mom abusing her and apparently I was a sexual deviant who was constantly banging girls in my bedroom while high on "drugs" after dropping out of school and she had to listen to it and that scarred her (sounds awesome but never happened) and my mom made her live in a shed (no idea where that's coming from).
Shitty thing is I don't get to see my nieces and nephews any more because it's not worth putting up with her and I'm afraid she'll accuse me of doing something to her kids because she's fucking crazy and needs drama to live

It's okay, my post wasn't meant to be confrontational. I think I'm on the low end of the spectrum, I only get psychotic/delusional under times of immense stress or when I'm taking recreational drugs. So I've got myself an easy low stress job and try to avoid everything including alcohol these days.

And I'm prescribed antipsychotics but I gained like 20 pounds on them and you get the personality of a zombie with them, so I only take them if I'm feeling a bit unwell mentally. I can see the signs coming a mile away now so it's all good. The big help is always talking to people if I'm having weird ideas or thoughts and they can redirect me back to reality easily enough

My brother went to prison for stabbing a policeman with a pair of garden shears. He's probably the most unstable but certainly not the only one.

Yeah my family has about 12 different crazy people in it, and they all live inside my head.

Bipolar, depression, anxiety, and drug abuse/alcoholism abound. At a wake for my great grandmother, a great aunt I think who I never met before warned me about looking into the family history on mental health and I told her I was well aware/adding to the story

The wife of my second cousin doesn't believe in dinosaurs. She also teaches Kindergarten.

My dad's side of the family has a lot of genuinely unhinged people. Dad himself is absolutely a narcissistic psychopath with possibly some schizophrenia mixed in too. As in he sometimes hears voices, and "remembers" conversation that we've never had. He's very verbally abusive, and used to be physically abusive too.

Though, compared to his older relatives he's relatively normal. For example his aunt was always crazy, as in unpredictable and doing random things for no reason. They lived on a small cliff overlooking the interstate. One day she simply ran and jumped off the cliff into the path a semi truck. When the police/medics arrived her mother was wandering the interstate collecting her pieces for them. It was all sorts of messed up, and I'm glad it happened before I was born. I don't know what that would've done to me if I had known her and then that happened. Just hearing the story kind of messes me up thinking about it. Apparently the mother wasn't even bothered by it either because of her loose grip on what had actually happened.

Yeah, my dads family has a history of mental illness.

Also, my mums brother let my elderly mother die because he was a useless drug addict who wouldnt put her into care because then he couldnt steal her pension. Does that count?
