But the problem is that for most people, by far the biggest expense they'll have is rent, something that's really not within their control

I generally spend less than I make, but I still don't make enough to get anywhere. Inflation and general corruption hamper that.

The rich and their various mouthpieces (politicians, media talking heads) know all the "work hard/spend less" stuff is bullshit. Dumb low level capitalist simps are true believers.

Dave Ramsey is the reason I had zero debt by one year out of residency.

His advice is not great for those who have money to invest, but that's obviously not his audience either.

Thanks to being frugal early, I can now spend what I want when I want to, and that's nice.

I think the best thing for poor people to do is not be single, not have kids, save one salary and live off the other.

It works, in the same way that using an electric car is a great way to save on fuel costs.
