At my job anyway.

Like I can say they gave me a extra $1, but yet not be specific about how much I make hourly.

They also add tasks and more attention at you.

Also it doesn't really add up to maybe a extra $20 a week after the IRS gets a hold of it.

Employers work around that by having set goals for raises so there's no negotiation anymore unless you're willing to go out and get another offer and threaten to leave.

Like I knew an engineer at a firm I worked at who billed like 130% of his goal for the year and made the company a ton of extra money and come bonus time his supervisor shrugged his shoulders and said "I can't give you more than I'm allowed to by corporate" and he got the same couple percent raise and bonus that the rest of us got. Needless to say he went and got another job.

I don't disagree there. His supervisor didn't have a backbone to vouch for his team. That leads to a toxic environment which people should leave.

It's so sad how my previous job fell apart in just a few years like this.

We went from 4-5 techs and pharmacists with 2-3 hour overlap to 2-3 techs with no pharmacist overlap. All while filling hundreds of more prescriptions and having to do more vaccines. That pharmacy has now lost its entire staff and is on its 5th PIC in just over 12 months.
