Wait so you think the color of the orc matters because if he were black it would mean it's representing black people even though the orc's race is an orc? Theres almost zero chance the show looks better than the 20+ year old movies. And thats just looks.

Apparently the show runners are just doing a sexed up version of a fantasy world that may as well be linked to Tolkien in name only.

I don't mind if they cast without much regard to ethnicity...but why, why do we need original characters? There's literally thousands of them.

Diversity in fantasy is great if it makes sense. Wheel of Time was pretty immersion breaking when some random isolated medieval town had more diversity than most modern large American cities, lol. If it was maybe it was a huge trading city with travelers from all over the world, it would make sense.

Uh, you know Wheel of Time isn't in a medieval setting right? It's postapocalyptic.

I cant wait for this thing to come out, then crash and burn. The wreck should be spectacular, and I hope all the SJWs and diversity people have high hopes for it so when it fails hard they are beside themselves.

They are literally spitting on the work of Tolkien and instead of using characters from his works they decided to create new ones.

Tolkien has plenty of material and characters to work with, and these idiots could not work with that.

There were lots of people bitching about TLOTR is too white for its heroes even though Tolkien wrote the books post WW1 practically 100 years ago. Stop acting like this was not pandering to the idiots complaining about source accurate characters based on Tolkiens own words or illustrations.

Cast the role based on who best fits the role, not to tic off a check box in the century old racial dynamics.

The point is this diversity is not organic or natural, it is pandering to idiots who complained about source accurate casting and characters who we know what they look like.

Plenty of other characters from Tolkiens work that were never given a illustration and can literally be anyone as that is organic diversity.

"This isn't organic diversity" sounds like the kind of thing that sounds (to dumb people) like it actually makes sense, but in reality can and will be applied to literally any kind of diversity.

Look at the characters of The Fast & The Furious movies for organic diversity or to how Gears of War the game series does organic diversity.
