Imagine regularly using lighters and not having at least two backups. (Unless it's because your main one just died so you've started using one of your two backups, and haven't replaced it yet. And in that case, you'd still have one backup.)

I got like 5 lighters in my room because my roommates all smoke and one thing I noticed about smokers is that they're always losing lighters.

Yeah since high school most of my friends have been smoking and I've always been the one sober person. To this day I always carry two lighters with me whenever I go out. Given away countless lighters to complete strangers.

One of the traits I've picked up from my stoner friends is that I always have a good lighter on me, as well as several backups including a few in the box where I keep all my weed stuff.

Nothing worse than a nature walk where everyone realizes they don't have a lighter. The person with the lighter has the potential to save the day in our eyes.

I do enjoy being the savior guy from time to time. Never been on a nature walk tho.

Yeah. It's just the most relevant situation for me when as far away from remedying the situation as possible. Like, welp, I guess we're doing this sober lol. Weed and outdoors is my therapy. Tbf, it's like 80% outdoors and 20% weed. So I'm not gonna cry about it.

I got a new lighter.

Been using a Zippo for the last 10 years.

Fill it up about once a week.

If not I just use some thinner from my job to light a few.

I also use the flints from discarded Bic's.

You keep track of it better.

A $15 Zippo can last me two years.

Where other guys might buy a 6pk of Bic's a month or less.

its always been somewhat of a teeny, tiny personal accomplishment to keep a lighter until it runs out.

So while you sacrifice lifespan for a ~50% success rate my Bic will always work and I occasionally have to replace it for very little cost.

I'm just not a nature person. I don't actively dislike being out in nature itself, I just vastly prefer the world of technology.

RE Zippos, i used to carry one when i smoked tobacco. i find them difficult for pipes tho, so i just use Bics

Back in my smokin days, Id set aside my lighters when dere was a tiny amount of fluid left. Of course, Id have to clean da resin off before giving one to a non-stoner.

When I was little, my mom would use the electric stove to light a toothpick when she didnt have a lighter/matches.

Da problem wit Zippo is dat when using one to smoke a bowl/bong, you can taste da fluid. Nasty!

I have a Zippo. I just use Bic lighters because the open design makes lighting a bowl easier than with the Zippo.

In addition, the Zippo is the one and only physical object I have that belonged to my grandfather, and while I am very good at keeping track of my lighters so the risk of losing it is very low, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

By the way, anyone want to take a wild guess at what my grandpa died of? :o
