This is just information about each class, and numerical comparisons about how many total stat points each one gets from it's level. This is from the information that came from some playing the final build. However there will be no actual spoilers or other information in this post.

Vagabond: Level 9
Vigor 15, Mind 10, Endurance 11, Strength 14, Dexterity 13, Intelligence 9, Faith 9, Arcane 7

Total points is 88 points at level 9

Hero: Level 7
Vigor 14, Mind 9, Endurance 12, Strength 16, Dexterity 9, Intelligence 7, Faith 8, Arcane 11

Total points is 86 points at level 7

Astrologer: Level 6

I honestly thought there would be discrepancies, like one level 8 class have more points than a level 9 or something. I think I've actually thought that since dark souls three but didn't do the math.

I assume Wretch is our deprived/Waste of Skin/etc. option? I haven't really looked at the starting classes for Elden Ring, but that's what I started Dark Souls III with.

It starts off with nothing but a club.

Yes, a lot of news outlets and content creators got a six hours with the game and here's some of what we know:

Will be divided into sorceries and incantations, with Intelligence and Faith stats each being one of the two
Both of which require a different item to cast
Glintstone sorcery is based on stars
You will not get more spell slots by leveling, you have to find them in the world
There are and seem to be a lot of dragon based spells(I think which most are incantations, uf not all)
There are also spirit ashes which are separate but use fp to summon a spirit
I think there's more that I either can't think of right now, or probably shouldn't mention because they might be seen as spoilers

Know that magic in general has been greatly expanded upon.

Also from my network test experience, magic is far better and more fun than ever.

So if I were to do a str faith or str/dex int build?

can you be a pure mage?

i remember in dark souls magic is basically consumable ranged attacks and you still have to go in melee most of the time. what i want to do is only use magic attacks and never use physical attacks

So which one is the magic user? I assume mind, faith, and arcane are the magic stats somehow, but I'm not sure how.

I actually messed that up.

It is Intelligence and faith for magic

Intelligence is sorceries and Faith is incantations with arcane being sort of like luck.

I played a str/dex int build during the network test, and it was great. The only thing I have to say is that it's actually really hard to pick between int and faith in this. Int was more like an expanded version of darksouls magic to me.

While faith seemed more like completely new stuff or even kind of reminds me of some bloodborne spells like auger of eb or what not, seemed more physical/conjuring and such

Each would definitely be viable. I'm having a hard time figuring out what I'm going to pick for myself on release. I think I'm probably gonna try a few different classes at launch to get a feel for everything before picking for sure tbh

Astrologer, Prophet, prisoner, and Confessor seems to be the magic based starting classes, however, based on everything I know I would say that while I'm sure you could be a pure mage, it's most likely going to be better to at least have some points in other stuff do to both Sprit summons and some ashes of war having a lot of noteworthy and powerful magic.

Personally I think I might do either a dex with int and faith or a Str/Dex with int or faith.

If that's true I'm quite happy with that. I always thought it was annoying that magic had to dedicate points into a stat purely to increase spell slots.

I'm assuming that's a typo and wretch is 80 points at level 1 right?

Yes, I thought I fixed that
