Even ignoring the gun. That's escalation even if the other guy was a douche. Self defense laws would still apply obviously but I don't see how Stand Your Ground possibly could. The whole point of Stand Your Ground is a situation where you have no choice but to pre-emptively defend yourself in a dangerous situation.
