I don't have any experience with the series, though, outside of the Smash Bros., so I feel like this would resonate more with fans.

I'd definitely play this, though.

To be fair, I think any fan works of the Mother series will be fine since Itoi himself said he's okay with it. So, not much Nintendo can do. The whole "Mother 4" fan project was likely just changed because the project grew bigger than to just be a fangame.

It'd be neat if they were lying and just stealth dropped it one day as an actual fangame. It definitely does a much better job at displaying a unique aesthetic without looking kind of eh like Link's Awakening and BDSP.

It got changed to "Oddity". Still has a similar art style and battle system to Mother, but removed all references to said franchise. So far still no release date though.
