Pat King, one of the trailer trash leaders of the near month long occupation in Ottawa appeared at a court hearing this morning where a woman whom he met only 4 WEEKS AGO, Kerry Komix is putting up $50,000 of her HOUSE to BAIL him after taking an EQUITY LOAN!!

The Alberta man faces 4 charges related to his involvement including mischief, counselling to commit the offence of mischief, counselling to commit the offence of disobey court order and counselling to commit the offence of obstruct police.

His arrest was captured on live stream to thousands of his fans as police gave ample warning to them to vacate the premises

Kerry has now put forward the bail after taking out the money out of her house and said he will LIVE with HER so he doesn't violate his conditions

She took out the money out of her home which is HALF of her home value despite the fact she's only known him for a month.

She's a retired bus driver who has worked with children with special needs and said he joined him and others to travel to Ottawa to protest vaccines and mandates claiming it is NOT god's will.

Komix is willing to watch him day to day to be sure he isn't violating his bail conditions and said "My home is where he is going ot be. It's kind of a jail for him if you want to call it that"

King sat in the prisoner's box wearing a grey hoodie and sweats as the court had to tell him to put his mask back on repeatedly as he claimed he was trying to get a drink of water

Videos was shown in court of him making threatening and racist remarks to other people on the street and encourages others to protest

In one video he mocked specific ethnicities and talks about the anglo-saxon race being the "STRONGEST BLOODLINES" and that white people are the DOMINANT race and then threatened trudeau with a BULLET.

Komix says she is not aware of his criminal record that include narcotics and possession of the proceeds from crime until just few days ago.

Komix says "I do know that's not the person i know. I know he loves everyone of every race, he does not discriminate that's the person i know. I've talked to him for several days when we met and he is the most beautiful, caring man i know him to be and the videos were not who he truly is"

Cross examination of her testimony will continue as a judge will decide if he gets bail after the other co-organizer, Tamara Lich was denied bail

The cost of housing varies WILDLY throughout the U.S. (and presumably Canada, too). $100K does seem low, but I've definitely heard of areas in "flyover country" where houses are like $120K or $150K, and not small houses, either.
It's a factor in the minimum wage debate where like... yeah, the federal amount hasn't kept up w/ inflation and needs to be indexed to it. But the left's push to blanket increase it to $15 or $20 or whatever is irresponsible because that would be genuinely insane in low cost areas. I think the real outlier that needs to be addressed is the California end of the market. Those massive prices are not sustainable at all.

Personally, I like the idea of establishing an algorithm that automatically updates the minimum wage a business needs to pay based on the local cost of living. Define a reasonable standard of living, then require businesses to pay their employers enough that 40-hour weeks meet that standard within a half hour walk (or half hour drive, provided the wage also covers car ownership). Review and adjust every 6 months or annually or whatever works. That way, you not only ensure that everyone that's working full time is making a livable wage, you provide an incentive for businesses to open in/move to lower-cost areas (which they often avoid), plus it automatically regulates the cost of living because businesses will avoid high-cost areas (which pushes prices down).

Toss in some extra regulation to cut down on the extent to which speculative investments drive up real estate costs (because that's one of the major driving factors for CoL inflating, which is frigging stupid and absolutely should not be happening) and maybe a few other measures to keep CoL from fluctuating too rapidly (like rent control and resources to help mitigate the impact of bad tenants without having to force good tenants to pay for them), and you've got a much better idea than a flat wage that will still be inadequate in many areas of the country while being both unnecessary and unsustainable in others.
