What a badass and amazing chapter omfgehh, it was tense as fuck, you had no idea what was going to happen throughout da whole chapter

But it starts with CONFIRMATION dat Luffy lost to kaido, everyone is freaking out, kaido comes down and wreaks havoc, kidd and law have to stand back up to fight after defeating big mom, and yamato is trying convince momo to fight because being slaves will hurt da country more

But den as soon as momo was probably convinced, he hears zunesha say dat she can hear it. She can hear JOYBOY, he's dere at wano!!

We get a few panels of luffys lifeless body, but den ends with liffy grinning and his body acting weird. So I'm thinking dat yea, joyboy was inside luffy da whole time den. Omfgehhhh

I have never seen One Piece but I gotta confess I'm kinda bored with anime being about really strong dudes dramatically fighting each other.

Can't they think of plots beyond that?

I mean we all loved Dragon Ball Z but that was decades ago now.

I was never that big into Anime but when I was watching it I remember things like Sgt Frog and Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro Chan and that chef one and all the Studio Gibli movies that for better or worse all seemed to be trying something different.

But now when I see people talking about anime. One Piece, Bleach, Avatar, One Punch Man etc it's always "Biloiskov just beat up Chaddicus to take over the 7th realm but then Marssinddko was alive all along and now they're going to have a fight." and it just sounds like .... well power rangers.

Sorry I'm rambling in your topic TC. Just errant thoughts. I'm really glad you enjoyed this One Piece chapter and I hope the next one is even more exciting for you :)

Dats shonen, its all about fighting. Doe with One Piece, its story is its huge draw. Oda really created a very special fictional world. Also, you can watch other non fighting anime like steins gate or haikyuu

2nd most important character that weve not been introduced to, and have no real connection to besides people being vague and hinting that hes a big thing. If you removed Joyboy from the story I bet you could still make a cohesive story very easily.

Probably luffy 'melting' and grinning is gonna be a transformation or new gear just like goku turning super sayan the first time vs frieza

Why don't they just have Luffy do an awakening thing where everything becomes rubber? Definitely thought that'd have happened by now after Doffy. Imagine how funny it'd be if the entire island became rubber, and it crash lands before it hits town, bounces over it, and lands back in the ocean.

Okay tbh Vegy I dont hate the Joyboy stuff, but I feel like theres not much to get hype about from it. But I feel like the majority consensus is that its exciting, and I dont really get why I should be excited >_>. Zunisha making its move is interesting, but thats only related to Joyboy, and not Joyboy himself.

I really don't get the hype. Luffy being knocked out for the fourth time against kaido in a fight that has been dragging itself along for far too long, all so that Oda the DBZ fanboy can finally have his Super Saiyan moment where the dead hero resurrects with a legendary power is just really, really lame.

Knocked out and died are functionally the same thing if we're talking about how many times Luffy has lost against kaido in this single fight. A good guy being on the back foot and then clawing their way to victory is compelling. The main character being knocked unconscious or killed four times in the same fight is dumb.

So what is the consensus on Luffy dying?

I thought the manga was pretty specific that he died. His voice went out which didnt happen last time he got knocked unconscious, his heartbeat stopped and multiple people said he was dead.

Yes theyre definitely going to kill off the main character.

Luffy definitely died, but either he came back due to his devil fruits power

or someone took over his body, like joyboy, and is about to rekt kaido. It is da fire festival, iirc its about dead people and shit and dere's lots of theories saying people from da past will show up in dat day

I don't read One Piece and I stopped watching the anime around episode 450 or so, but I always read these topics.

Overall, the revelation itself isnt bad, but Oda really didnt foreshadow it properly. Anything first introduced in the same arc in which it debuts is usually fairly bleh because it feels like it wasnt planned.

The unique fruit, the revelation that Joy Boy is both an individual and some kind of title that someone will inherit in the present day, and the description of an individual worshipped as some kind of sun god that will probably be tying it all together are all pretty recent. Usually is better at putting in little specks of hints over hundreds of chapters, but this is all shoved in within 100 chapters.

Oh yeah the fruit thing I don't like very much either. Well I'm skeptical to the whole Joyboy thing to begin with so

Oda gave subtle hints, like him claiming da page back from skypia, where luffy dancing looked a bit like da nika whos who talked about, was his favorite panel

luffy always being a savior, riding a boat dat looks like da sun dat will bring da dawn, both joyboy and luffy being friendly with Poseidon. Not to mention Binks Sake pretty much tells us da whole story lol, according to some theorists, it even mentions da drums of liberation of some sort

I just feel like people should give Oda time to do what he does, he never disappoints tbh.
