So when I SOS hunt, I actually have 2 3DSs going. On this OG red 3DS I have Sun, and I have a blue 3DS XL with Ultra Moon. So tonight on Sun I caught a shiny Bruxish and the shiny Mimikyu. On Ultra Moon I hunted for shiny Exeggcute and didn't get it. I do the Harvest with Leppa Berry method.

1) Encounter the Pokemon you want to hunt for.
2) Use Skill Swap to give the Pokemon the ability Harvest
3) Use Trick or Bestow to give the Pokemon a Leppa Berry
4) False Swipe it to 1 HP
5) Use an Adrenaline Orb
6) Keep knocking out the Pokemon it calls until the shiny spawns

I use Trevenants at the front of my team in both games since they have Harvest as their hidden ability, and they can learn Skill Swap and Trick/Bestow

I also have Octillerys on my teams to use Soak in case I'm hunting a Ghost type. Then whatever will help me hunt fast.

Oh yeah another hunt I kind of want to attempt is Wimpod. But Wimpod can't SOS call, so I'd have to soft reset for it. I'd maybe borrow my brother's 3DS and Ultra Sun so I'd have 3 consoles going soft resetting but idk how efficiently I could do that. Maybe with practice I could get it down.

I mean, I could Masuda for it, but I've hatched literally tens of thousands of eggs in my life only found 1 shiny, a Rookidee in Sword. And that was roughly at about 1700 eggs, Masuda method and shiny charm. That shit just does not work for me.

Actually I just realized something. Mimikyu is immune to Normal, Fighting and Dragon moves. That means Jangmo-o literally can't even hit it.

I know what I'm hunting tomorrow.

sun and moon were my favorite gen to shiny hunt, but even then i didn't bother with SOS. it always seemed annoying. i finally had a shiny charm so breeding was nice, and wormhole hunting got me a xerneas. <3

Yeah actually when I got Ultra Moon in 2020, I dipped my toes into wormholes, and I got several shinies, and that's what got me into shiny hunting.

A year and half later and I have 424 shinies spread across gens 6 to 8.

damn. i have maybe a couple boxes worth, i'm not super dedicated.

i kinda wanna send mine all forward, but i've been postponing because reasons.

It is very time consuming. But even then Ive had tons of success in gen 6 with XY friend safaris, ORAS dexnav, hordes in both games, and now SOS.

IDK maybe give the Leppa berry method I outlined above a shot, you might get some good stuff. Sometimes SOS hunting takes a few hours, sometimes it takes 5 minutes.

friend safaris were my other favorite way of hunting. i had randomly good/bad luck with that one. i accidentally got two shiny dunsparces through it.

i might give it a shot if i pick up the game again. not much else going on.

Yesterday before and after raid in XIV I EV trained and power leveled my Mimikyu and now I'm chainging off a Jangmo-o. Weird that Jangmo-o can't call itself, only its evolutions. Oh well. And, oh yeah, these things literally can't even hit Mimikyu lol

Still no shiny Hakamo-o or Kommo-o but just got a shiny Exeggcute and Cubone!

Well then just got my first Hakamo-o \o/

And second Hakamo-o and second Morelull.

There's only a handful of Gen 7 Pokemon I can still hunt with SOS method.

After I get all of these I think I'll focus on some Gen 2 and Gen 6 shinies. Maybe I'll try swap breeding on 2 consoles for some shinies, but, idk. Like I said above, Masuda method has almost never worked for me, and it's boring to boot.

i love the morelull line. it was one that i made sure to get a shiny of. normally i hate that combination of colors, but with the mushroom aesthetic it's amazing.

i've had decent luck with masuda, i think. poke-pelago made it super easy to raise eggs while ignoring them. it's likely how i ended up with an extra bulbasaur and nosepass.

Took a week to find a second shiny Alolan Geodude in Sun. x_x But in that time I got a shiny Pichu, Bonsly, Happiny, Spinarak, and Ledyba in Ultra Moon. Tomorrow I'll start hunting for an Inkay in Ultra Moon and continue the hunt for a third Geodude.

FINALLY caught the final Alolan Geodude. And now I have all Alolan form Pokemon Shiny! In the time it took me to catch that third Geodude in Sun, I caught Inkay, Furfrou, Noibat, Hoothoot and Mareep in Ultra Moon. x_x

Now I think I'm gonna hunt for Caterpies in Sun while I continue to hunt Hoothoots and Mareeps in Ultra Moon.

Already have 2 shiny Caterpies. The first one, I turned my 3DS on, walked into the grass on Route 1, BAM shiny Caterpie. Then 2 hours later got another one from chaining. Still need another Hoothoot and Mareep.

Yesterday I caught a shiny Spearow, Ekans and Slowpoke. And passed the 450 shiny mark. >_> Only like 25 or something more and I'll be at the 50% shiny living dex mark :0

I realized I never properly finished PLA, so I decided to do the post game and finish the pokedex. Didn't finish that yet as I'm doing some power leveling before fighting the final trainer battle. I also sprinkled some shiny hunting in and while I was doing that, I unintentionally got a few shinies too.

I got random:
2 Lickitungs (this was really weird. I caught a shiny Lickitung. And a second later a second shiny Lickitung spawned in the exact same spot. No idea what happened there. At first I thought it didn't catch. Then later when I talked to the professor to leave, I had 2 shiny Lickitungs. It was the weirdest thing.)

And the flying Gyarados also spawned shiny lol

And again, I don't have the shiny charm.
