It seems that Ukraine launched a missile attack and hit several ships in the port, setting one on fire and damaging the others.

The burning ship is the Orsk, a landing ship which just days ago the Russians were bragging about using to bring vehicles and supplies into the port.

Ukraine even thanked the Russians for providing such juicy targets for them. Then they backed their words up with explosives.

I feel bad for all the people dying in this stupid stupid stupid war and all the empty spaces at dinner tables tonight.

All this blood and death and destruction is on Putin's hands. We need full sanctions from every nation now and fuck anyone who "Both sides" or takes putin's back on this.

Some damn good footage here. The one on fire is definitely fucked, there's also a fire of some sort on the dock itself, and the other two ships nearby that sailed away are both also on fire to some degree, though not as seriously.

Some thoughts of mine on this attack.

• Russia lost a large transport ship that cannot be replaced any time soon.
• A section of an important port is now blocked by the shipwreck.
• The damaging and destruction of dock facilites impacts Russian operations in the area.
• The loss of materiel, ammunition, and supplies exacerbates Russia's logistics issues.
• The ships that survived but sustained damage will be out of action until they're repaired.
• An unprecedented attack into "safe" Russian-held territory hurts Russian morale.
• Conversely, it's undoubtedly a huge morale booster for Ukraine.

This was taken by a satellite at some point after the attack. You can see the dock and ship still burning, and another ship in the bottom left going in circles for some reason.

Update: The ship was the Saratov, not the Orsk.

This is what it looked like today, after the fire had gone out. Note the water inside the ship. That's not supposed to be there.

Russia lost one of three of this class of ship, and I wager this particular ship played a vital role in keeping the southern theater supplied and armed.

Hell yeah. Better dead than red.
