Not likely. Grant who came after was very much pro reconstruction and keeping the southern Democrats out of politics. The north by the end of Grant's time was pretty fucking bitter about the whole thing and public support for reconstruction was near zero. Grant kept it going as long as he could but the south didn't want reconstruction and the north didn't want to give it to them.

Jackson was president almost 200 years ago and no one really talks about what he did. I doubt things would intensify in 100 more years

Nixon, Johnson, Jackson, Bush, and even Reagan are worse than Trump in the long run, unless Trump leads directly to a straight up fascist next time.

Jackson directly committed genocide.

Bush killed and displaced millions based on outright lies.

Johnson allowed the worst elements of American culture to fester which caused basically every bad thing afterwards related to race, and many of the bad things not related to race.

Nixon committed outright treason multiple times including prolonging a war that killed countless Vietnamese, Laotian, and Cambodian people, facilitated genocides in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, supported right wing dictatorships all over the world, and permanently damaged faith in government. Watergate isn't even in the top 5-7 worst things he did. I urge people to really look into Nixon, the man was a goddamn monster.

This isn't to say that Trump wasn't a catastrophe, but to say he's the worst is to discount just how bad many of our other Presidents were. He's Nixon, just less competent and with a far smaller domestic and international impact.

This is simply incorrect. What Nixon did in Southeast Asia alone at his and Kissinger's personal direction likely killed hundreds of thousands to millions and wounded and displaced many more. What they did is still killing children through unexploded ordinance to this day. Again, the guy committed treason to extend a war AND win an election, not just to win an election. Even if you only count American deaths, which you absolutely shouldn't, that conspiracy led to thousands of additional deaths and injuries. Nixon also created the conditions for and then gave aid to Pol Pot, causing several million more deaths in Cambodia.

The only way someone could even begin to say Trump is worse is to completely discount his impacts outside of the US. Nixon in the modern US wouldn't have resigned because the Republican Party has rapidly decayed since and in large part because of Nixon's politics of grievance, corruption, resentment, impunity, and weaponizing of power.

• Mass family separations of refugees
• Embarrassing trade war with China
• Pulled out of NAFTA for no reason
• Pulled out of Climate Accord
• Tried to pull out of NATO
• Was a total Putin stooge
• Left the Kurds to die

And this part here is a little unfair since Nixon never had to deal with this shit but I'm going to count it anyway. We're inching closer to a million dead from COVID-19 and will probably hit it before the summer and it's trump's fault.

Anyone who thinks Trump is worse than Nixon has no idea about just how much Nixon got away with completely free of accountability. He had maybe the most wholesale criminal and corrupt administration from top to bottom which is saying something, and unlike Trump was actually effective at running it and getting things done. He paved the way for just about every regressive social and fiscal policy that Reagan solidified, prolonged Vietnam for absolutely no reason killing immense amounts of people,, and worked with the CIA to extinguish hope for a meaningful leftist movement in this country.

The only person that comes anywhere close in terms of modern presidents was GW who is his own absolutely horrible bouquet of nightmare foreign and domestic policy

Most of the garbage Presidents we've had are a direct result of the South retaining power after Johnson abandoned Reconstruction. Anyone in the Confederacy with a lick of power should have been barred from holding office ever again at the bare minimum.

Nixon was bent over the table and fucked by Edgar J Hoover on the regular. He wasn't anywhere as near in control as you're making him out to be. Even after Hoover died, he was scared shitless about what might turn up.

Don't get me wrong: Trump was a terrible president. But to vote for him over Bush, who bears responsibility for the deaths of at least a million people and the destabilization of large parts of the Middle East, which resulted in even more deaths, demonstrates a complete lack of perspective. @legendary_zell already summed up the worst things Nixon did, which far outweigh the worst things that Trump (and arguably even Bush) did.

Trump barely even pulled out of NAFTA. The new agreement his administration negotiated, USMCA, is basically NAFTA with a few changes, most of which are insignificant. While Trump bears responsibility for some of those deaths, you can't say that they're all his fault. Even if Trump and his administration had done everything legally possible to limit the spread of COVID, lots of people still would have died. Also, it's worth pointing out that of the million or so confirmed deaths from COVID, only about 400,000 occurred during Trump's presidency. Trump doesn't bear sole responsibility for right-wingers refusing to take the pandemic seriously, either. If the pandemic had happened while Obama was President, I can guarantee that the Tea Party morons would have refused to wear masks, follow social distancing guidelines, or take any precautions at all.

Hoover was an evil piece of shit, but the fact that Nixon was able to work with most purestrain evil versions of the FBI and the CIA to get stuff done rather than just annoy the shit out of them and actively get in the way of them is just another point for effective evil for Nixon over Trump
