Being a celebrity doesnt mean you arent human. Yes, they should act better in situations like that, but sometimes emotion outweighs actions. Theyre celebrities, not surgeons or cops. They shouldnt be expected to just brush everything off in the moment.

Hair is a very feminine quality and has been for thousands of years. Women are more open about their feelings in general with other women especially and people have learned, over time, to generally not insult women because of how they are perceived as "sensitive and emotional".

Men do not support men in the same way that women support other women. Men teach each other to ignore feelings and constantly compete to be better than their peers. In this way, men tear each other down. Height, stature, etc are masculine traits. What's the first thing a man will go after when trying to tear another man down? Something to do with his masculinity.
