If the question were, do you have a self-defense item in the home? The answer would change.

Because anybody could grab a kitchen knife. So I guess the larger question is, why don't most folks carry one (any item) in public?

Is it because the threat is perceived greater at home, as we are amid comfort?

Technically yes but not for that purpose.

I usually carry a multi tool with me. It has a knife, two screwdrivers and a few other tools.

But I carry it as a tool, not a weapon. Could be used as one if needed, though.

Probably because no one is going to outright attack you in broad daylight in public unless they are a loose mental patient or you are legit flashing hundreds.

Where I spend 90% of my time, I'm not allowed to carry a weapon besides like a knife.

I voted "Yes, a legal knife" but the knives that I usually carry are not legal. California henerally doesn't allow switchblades.

I am currently working on getting my armed security license, after that I'll apply for a CCW license.

I used to carry a knife when I was in school because this group of kids said they were gonna jump me.

It started out in the high school lunch room when a kid next to me had a squirt gun and shot this dude in the head with it. Everyone at my table pointed at me like assholes so he and his boys said they were gonna kick my ass. There were racial tensions at the time also but I won't get into that.

They didn't do anything but confront me on the bus but I kept my blade on me anyway until graduation
