It was so avoidable. 6 days before his death, he OD'd on a drug, but was revived by doctors and could have received more treatment had he stayed in the hospital. But he left against medical advice; days later, he bought more drugs and OD'd again, this time he couldn't be revived. And he died in an elevator, which is creepy as hell considering he talks about "de elevator" (as in Devil) in Let's Go Crazy.

Fuck drug addiction, man. RIP Prince. I don't think there's any living celebrity with that surreal, out of this world vibe to them now. @TheGoldenEel

Haven't thoroughly listened to his music like I have with MJ, but he has a lot of good stuff. Man wrote and produced all his shit, played instruments and he'd always sing live when he'd perform. Homie was a real musician and not manufactured at all.

Musically, though, I say he peaked with Sign o the Times in 1987. None of his subsequent albums were great.

Honestly The Gold Experience was his last album where he felt remotely relevant. After that album, he basically fell off the face of the planet until he resurfaced in 2004, but by that point he was just living off his past and not making any significant albums

my understanding was there was a surgery he was refusing because JW dont do blood transfusions, and he was taking painkillers instead

anyway he has loads of great material post-80s. Favorite albums in that range are Love Symbol, Gold Experience, The Rainbow Children, and 3121. Really there are only a few terrible albums in those decades, 20ten, and Rave in2 are the first that come to mind

So Far So Pleased should have been Rave's lead single, def. Greatest Romance sucked lol.

After that, Wherever U Go, Whatever Do and The Sun The Moon and Stars.
