Someone was going around the neighborhood with a gun. Victim was outside looking for suspect . Cops arrive to look for same suspect. They see home owner and kill him. Actual criminal was never found. Cops never announced who they were either. Just assassinated the man in the dark

Imagine living in a country where the police don't think it's a good idea to tell you that a potentially armed and dangerous individual is in your area and you should stay inside.

It's dark and man is black still seems to be enough for police to execute someone without penalty.

I'm not going to watch the video because I don't want to get even more depressed, but did any of the cops involved face any sort of punishment?

Is there more video? Did they just shoot him without any prior interaction, or was there an interaction that led to him being shot?

How does the narrative work where guns are necessary for home defense also reconcile with the notion that if you're seen using a gun for home defense you should be summarily executed by the police?

If you can be murdered simply for being in possession of a firearm by government employees then you don't actually have 2nd Amendment rights.

The police were literally looking for someone with a gun. The "good guy with a gun" is usually applied to active shooter incidents, not "let's go manhunt a guy the police are actively in the area looking for."

Let alone the huge 2nd amendment issue with this case, isn't a large part of gun safety is that you're supposed to know what you're shooting at?

Its bad for the cops to go around shooting but honestly this. Why!? Just sit back and stay out of harms way unless you are at risk.

Well it sounds like the victim may have felt at risk. The video mentioned their home had been targeted in the past. Someone threw a brick at their window. He probably thought a threat was outside and decided to go stop it

You know, you can protect your house from inside it. Have the gun ready in case the guy decides to kick your door in, and then you're not "an armed guy standing around in an area the police are actively looking for an armed guy."

Who says I am? But the fact is, having things the police can mistake as a gun is a bad idea. actually having a gun, worse. For all either of us know, the guy has already shot at police once. And they likely expected anyone with sense to get that alert about staying inside, and, you know, stay the fuck inside.

I didnt know that standing in your driveway was a crime worthy of summary execution.

They shot a man in the dark without even announcing themselves or giving him a chance to comply with orders. Even if it was the suspect they hit, that is absolutely the wrong approach for police to take, particularly when they are literally in a residential area. Whatever notifications this man did or did not receive does not justify what happened to him.
