Eh, I've got all of those except specifically the remastered versions of 4 and 5.

Super, super good series. Highly recommended if anyone hasn't played them yet to grab Yakuza 0.

Yakuza 0 is straight up one of the best games I've ever played and is an insane steal at that price. Definitely check it out if you've never experienced this series before!

Yup

Zero was very much made to be played first. It came out at a time that the series was gaining traction but it was still very difficult to get most of the older games.

Yeah, 0 is what you start with, optimally. You technically 'could' start with almost any game in the series fairly easily, but if you have the options there's no reason not to go with 0, as it's the intended start point now.

Holy balls, that is a bargain. Yakuza 0 alone is worth the total price of all the sale combined, much less getting more and more Kiryu plus my boy Akiyama (the dude from 4).

Do yall think the Prequel Trilogy of Star Wars would be a good starting point as well? Or Snake Eater? I just never heard of people saying this for anything before, and super collectively too

There are certainly other prequels that are recommended as starting points - Fate/Zero for the Fate/animes, for example.

With Yakuza, it's partly because they remade 1 and 2 to make them feel more like sequels to 0. And it's also because 0 is by far the best game in the franchise, other than 7, while 1 is often considered the worst.

Yep, agreed with Mac. It makes more sense narratively to start with 0 because of the additions in the remakes stories. They added call backs to characters and events from 0 in them, and the developers have stated they made 0 to be the new 'entry point' for the series.

Yeah, I used to be in the "well, you could also just start from the beginning" camp but almost nobody is going to play vanilla 1 or 2 these days and the remakes are 100% set up as sequels to 0. It really has become the perfect entry point.

The only real problem is the remake of Y2 uses the new engine so you're fine going 0>1>2 but after that you're going back to an older battle style with 3>4>5.

oh wait, isn't there an old save bonus somewhere in there with Kiwami and 0? or am I remembering that wrong

yeah, Kiwami and Kiwami 2 will give you an item if it detects any other Yakuza game save files on your PS4

Yeah that's a bit of a weird thing, though really 4 and 5's battle systems are more or less the same as 0 and Kiwami 1's just with more playable characters and no stance switching as a trade off. 3's the only one that really feels overly dated. I do wish they actually remade that one, it has a lot of gameplay problems compared to the other games in the series.

I borrowed the Y0 disc from a friend and enjoyed it greatly. Perhaps this is the time to get my own copy.
