It was basically just a coin flip. I really should have gone back and reviewed the events of Day 1 a lot sooner than I did.

I wasn't around for the end of it and I missed Day 2 entirely, and I hadn't caught that plum started everything with Tidus.

Pretty much everyone has been caught out on a scumslip on one of their first times playing scum, so don't beat yourself up too badly about it. It's just something to learn from, really, and once it's happened once you know what not to do.

I explained to Tidus in PM what he did wrong and how to try to avoid doing it again.

if there's a role with a time limit thing like corrik's the way to fix having an issue with an ability running into the night phase is just turn off majority voting and the lynch only occurs at the end of 48 hours.

I didn't read the game so if I'm missing context then oops, but the work around for 'majority this fast is an issue' is to just not have majority. The entire game could vote one person at the same time and as long as time is on the clock it doesn't matter

Death's vote was the quickest early game voteoff I have ever seen in a mafia game.

I honestly never considered the possibility that town would rush a lynch so fast it would functionally break his role. All he needed was at least an hour or two for it to work as intended. He got 28 minutes.

I think your option then was to just not post the flip until Corrik's role resolved

No regrets about 28 minute lynch. Lots of data there. If town was trying and not just saying "durr hurr 28 minute day what a joke" Ulti was a super easy lynch off that

I'm still not sure how Ulti coasted day 3 with his only content being to pop in every few hours saying "lynch X player" before piecing out.

He told town to lynch most of the players in the game day 3. Never brought up SBell though.

I mean to me

Day 1 "really wants roleclaim first"
Day 2 "doesn't even care if they post"

Super obvious contrast there. Would have caught it during Day 2 if I wasn't at a bar lol

You are host. It's not a you thing, it's just a you need to watch what you could say can be construed ways you never even intended.

For the record, I really wanted to make Sultan's role scum, but it was impossible to functionally balance it without stretching out the game and adding a 4th scum, which I believe would've damaged the flavor, which was already thin but had provided just enough to make it work (Two town power roles are characters that appeared in exactly one episode but fit their roles beautifully). Yin and Yang needed their actual powers or scum was too weak, and putting it on the vanilla just gives it to a scum that gets destroyed by both cop and tracker, and doesn't interact with Corrik's role.

People were right in that the role wasn't town confirming at all, though!

I disagree. I think last minute lynches are fairly random at times and there isnt a reward for decisiveness.

I dont participate in communities with no time limit because it takes way too long, but there is something to be said about needing a majority. It makes scum actually take a stance on every lynch instead of possibly just not being around for the last minute train

I think they're just talking about what happened on Day 2, but I mostly agree. I played in a game once where the first day took over three months in real time.

It was. They made it a rule that people had to post at least once every 48 hours and someone still ended up getting modkilled for inactivity.

I just mean within the first six hours
At least early on

I don't think there should be a hard time minimum time limit on a day but letting someone at least talk each day is generally good lol, especially if it's day 2

Yeah day 6 it doesn't matter. Plenty of info on the table, plenty of time to talk things out. Early game is when it matters.
