They brag about how strong their economy is (despite the fact that the average joe isnt getting any of that shit) and about how theyre the most popular latin american country but always forget to bring up that theyre probably the most dangerous and most corrupt country (bordering on a failed state) in latin america. Straight up arrogance. I dont get why latinos always have to talk shit to each other.

the colorism in latin america really blows my mind, coming from iran where there is a wide range of skin tones but literally zero correlation to economic status

I live next to mexico and go often. I've never heard any brag about their economy lol.

I live in Cali and I havent really seen this. And I work with and encounter lots of Mexicans.

That's not always true, but I know what you are trying to say. I think it has to do with Mexicans being considered the main hispanic demographic in the US despite the US owning Puerto Rico and a few other things such as Mexicans being more proficient at boxing. When it comes to minorities in the US it's not even only just some groups talking though if you know what I mean. A little competition between ethnicities and cultures can be a good thing from time to time as long as it doesn't escalate into hate, discrimination and violence. Sadly it usually does.

shit man mexicans talk shit about other mexicans. the 2 guys in my old office are mexican american and they used to make fun the mexican mexican guy. "he can't even speak english" and then they turn around and make fun of the mexican amerians who can't speak spanish. "aye gringo"

In fact in South America, there's a lot of hatred towards Argentina due to many proclamaiming them to have a superiority complex over other Hispanic countries.

I had a friend from Mexico when I was in HS

Dude was really racist/colorist and a bit of snob coming from a wealthier family.

One time he mentioned how he preferred his hometown in Mexico because "things are a bit more separated there" and how he wasn't around "darker people" as much

And I'm sitting there thinking "why the fuck does this mexican dude think he's white"

My ex was Salvadoran and her nephew was half black. The elderly people in her family would openly call him slurs in Spanish. They stopped bringing him over and seeing the family all together.

It really is sad. Some of them associate their darker skin with ugliness even compared to their own family members.

Dark skin v light skin has died down a lot more recently. Obviously some lames still try to keep it alive but its not as talked about as it was in the late 90s-early 00s.

As someone with lighter skin I agree with that. People look at us like " well they aren't too black" and often assume we're mixed with something. On the other side, there are darker skinned people that'll discredit our "blackness". As if we have some requirements of shade to be considered black.

Actually, this topic is BS but what you mention about Argentines is true. Besides, fuck 'em. Them and their weird lisp in their Spanish. They all sound like they have a speech impediment.

Is it a mexican thing? In europe people talk shit about other european countries all the time, so it's probably a global thing

This must be it. Americans that have Mexican heritage. Any Mexican born in Mexico would never shit on fellow latinos. There is actually a strong sense of union between Latinos. Also a real Mexican knows to always joke on the economy and would never brag about it.
