Good. Fuck 'em.

Got rid of Netflix last year and now I don't subscribe to any streaming services. If they're gonna be Cable 2.0, I'm out of the game.

oh

The company said that the suspension of its service in Russia and the winding-down of all Russian paid memberships resulted in a loss of 700,000 subscribers. Excluding this impact, Netflix would have seen 500,000 net additions during the most recent quarter.

its cuz of russia.

WELL

CANCEL NETFLIX ANYWAYS GUYS CMON

I was wondering to what effect would have getting out of Russia on companies since they have a decent chunk of population.

Imagine being a genius that perfectly timed the covid crash in March 2020, bought up a bunch of NFLX, and held until now to see your position be red.

Unfortunately it's less funny when I realize this means tomorrow is going to be red as hell for the whole market.

In an effort to continue to gain share in the market, Netflix has increased its content spend, particularly on originals. To pay for it, it's hiked prices of its service. The company said Tuesday that these price changes are helping to bolster revenue, but was partially responsible for a loss of 600,000 subscribers in the U.S. and Canada during the most recent quarter.

With nearly every company having their own service, Netflix doesn't have much to go on now. I don't fault them for jacking up the price because they can't have exclusivity as easily as much as they used to.

But at the same time, I don't fault the customers from unsubbing either.

While the company is exploring other options for growth, like adding video games, analysts and investors are wondering what else Netflix can do to bolster revenue

Blaming streaming competition and then devoting resources to video games seems like a super smart idea. Definitely won't come with another price hike either.

What will they be replaced by?
True IPTV that isn't subscription based.

Where you get an option to watch your content with advertisements.

Or Subscribe to individual series, not services.

Or you can rent time to view ___ episodes of shows like a digital BlockBuster.

Subscriptions are optional, not required.

You will get perks for being a Subscriber to certain Shows.

Just pay more so they can keep making shitty shows and movies nobody asked for...lol

Remember the good ol days when that Netflix logo actually made you feel like you could trust it? It's been way more years that that hasn't been the case now, but there was a time. Then it seemed like they just started living out their personal fantasies of shows they wanted to see come back and movies only a niche amount of people would want. That only works when you don't have any competition to poach customers. Now, I don't see how they can keep affording to make these giant budge movies just to release them on a streaming service next to all the other stuff they crap out
