This was the last season I watched all the way through iirc. Think I watched till the mid season break of the next season and quit. I honestly don't remember much of it though as it had lost my interest about the time they reached Alexandria.

It's really nice to get to re-experience it through this topic, and get a nice summary of what happened.

paula knew that Rick and co had followed her trail because early on, there was a lot of static on the radio. Last time they talked, radio signal was clear, meaning Rick and co were closer. So she knew if she walked outside she was dead and instead was going to wait for back up. Because of lack of static.
Oh, literally.

I thought there was new slang.

S6 E14 - Twice as Far

Title Reference - quote about taking the tracks instead of the road the long way around. It was Rosita or Denise, don't remember.

Everyone in camp is being productive and has something they are doing. Most notably Gabriel is patrolling with a rifle, Morgan building a prison, Carol and Tobin are banging, Rosita and Spencer are banging but Rosita is wanting to be casual or something.

Eugene and Abraham leave.
Denise convinces Rosita and Daryl to take her on a trip to get drugs at an apothecary. We finally find one thing Daryl sucks at, driving a manual truck. Old one at least. He's grinding the gears pretty bad and Denise wants to drive but doesn't outright say it. They come across a downed tree blocking the road. Decision, follow the railroad tracks or the road. Daryl ain't taking no tracks.

Eugene tells Abraham he is now stage 2 and is a survivor, thats why hes got swagger and a ponytail. They come to like a mini foundry or something. Maybe a metal recycler or something? I dunno. Eugene explains this place will be used to make bullets. Reuse casings but make lead bullets and gunpowder. Abraham is impressed. A zombie with a melted metal head comes out and Eugene calls dibs. Tries 3 times to kill it before Abraham steps in. Eugene is angry, Abraham is none to impressed. They argue, Abraham leaves.

DRD find the apothecary and its still locked up. They break in, find pharmacy full of drugs. Hear a lone zombie. Denise investigates, zombie in a cast, not sure that was a normal cast, might have been concrete or something? I dunno, seemed weird. Also there is "Hush hush hush" written on the wall a lot with a baby foot sticking out of a bathtub. This freaks Denise out. They head back taking the tracks this time. Denise spots a cooler in a car with a zombie. She tries to get DR to come back in a passive way but then goes to do it herself. She succeeds but its a close call. She gets an orange soda. Victory. She then explains what this was really about, it was about her overcoming fear and facing the world and Daryl was here to make her feel safe and Rosita is here because shes alone, and then Denise gets crossbow bolt to the head through the eye. That got a "OH FUCK!" outa me.

Blonde guy that stole Daryl's motorcycle with like 15 Saviors. They are angry and have Eugene. Supposed to lead them all to the camp where they can take what they want. Daryl says no, there is some talking, threats are made, Eugene spots Abraham in all this and before anyone dies says kill Abraham first hes over by the barrels. Guy is sent to investigate, behind the saviors Abraham pops out and they start blasting. Eugene bites Dwight's (blondie) dick. Rosita and Daryl fight back. Seems like maybe 7 or 8 Saviors die here. Eugene is hit but its a through and through on the side. Daryl gets his crossbow back. Saviors retreat. Eugene is brought back. At some point Denise's body is brought back and buried.

Abraham and Sasha bang. Episode 3 on the Abraham death clock (how long since he broke up with Rosita).

Carol leaves a note for Tobin, she can't kill anymore and if she stays she will have to kill. NOOOOOoooooooo! Carol! Like is she just too DEM for the show runners to use in the up coming battle or something? She better not be out of the show long term. Although if she is, she's had a great character arc overall so that wouldn't be the end of the world. Do a couple of guess spots a season or something.

9/10. Again, I am a sucker for scavenging episodes. Denise's death was sudden but wasn't character assassination. I do feel for Tara, two dead GFs now. Clearly everyone has to be on high alert from here on out. Each time it seemed like 15 people. I'd so no more going out unless you got 12 minimum and that's with like Daryl on scout and someone sitting on the top of the RV with the RPG. Basically no one goes out, local scavenging only.

i wish denise had her comic book death instead. it was so much more badass. the quick arrow to the head death was someone else in the comic

comic spoilers abraham was the one to die from a crossbow bolt to the head in the comic in the middle of a speech. denise would have died later on having been bitten by a walker but refusing to let anyone amputate her arm to save her because there were a lot of injured people who needed her help and she needed both arms to work. so she willingly died to save the lives of dozens

S6 E15 - East

Title reference - Tracking Carol, Rick says the tracks are going east.

Rewind a bit from last episode, Carol is packing and writing a note then leaves in the middle of the night. Daryl runs off to go after Dwight for killing Denise. But before all that, Rick and Michonne are in bed and Rick is getting hella cocky. This is sounding like a Rick death watch almost. Maggie and Glen are banging all the time.

Carol comes across saviors, they fire at her. She plays weak and defenseless and them mows them all down with what I assume was an uzi up her sleeve? It was never shown. It sounded like a good 15 shots though. A couple survive, she kills one immediately and lets the other bleed out. I think that was 5 more saviors she took out there.

5 there, call it 8 last episode, 15 on the road, maybe 25 at the base? 4 or 5 that captured Carol and Maggie, plus 3-5 more they killed with fire.

That's up to 63 killed of Negan's so far. Denise is the only kill Negan's crew has so far. That's uh... not exactly threatening. For when we were introduced to them and they said normally they kill one of them first to set the tone or whatever... they've only done that once.

Elsewhere, Glen, Rosita, Michonne are following Daryl's trail where Denise died and infer Daryl is tracking Dwight. They catch up, try to convince him to come back, he doesn't. Glen and Michonne head back, Rosita sticks with Daryl. Glen and Michonne get captured by Dwight and co.

Morgan tells Rick he kept a pet Wolf. Rick is upset. Wolves are dangerous. Can't keep one in the camp. Morgan tells the story of the Wolf first kidnapping then saving Denise and Denise saving Carl. Rick don't care. Suddenly see someone they think is from hilltop looking for his horse. Hilltop guy doesn't want to talk. The guy flees and Rick's police training kicks in and he tries to shoot at the fleeing suspect but thankfully Morgan stops him. What is that had been Gregory's lover and that ruins the deal? Or Jesus' BF? Times have changed Rick, we can't have cops going around shooting unarmed fleeing suspects anymore.

Morgan tells Rick to go home and he will find Carol.

Rick returns, learns Michonne, Glen, Daryl, Rosita are gone.

Maggie gets a Karen haircut. Sigh. Maggie was hot with long hair. Sigh. I get it, fighting, karate, yay. Maggie then has abdominal pain. Hope it is not a miscarriage. We need some baby Glen's pronto.

Daryl and Rosita are creeping and see Glen and Michonne. Glen tries to shake him off but Dwight is behind him and ends with Daryl turning around quickly, gun fire, blood "You'll be alright" or something to that effect from Dwight.

8/10. Solid ep. They shouldn't have followed Carol or Daryl. Daryl solo... he would have survived. Might have figured out a way to take out a group or a large portion of the group. Carol was going to be fine for sure.

I do wonder how big Negan's group is. I don't know how large Alexandria is, I'd say minimum I could reasonably understand is 50. Most likely around 80, potentially as high as like 150? But I'd say they have 40-100 fight capable. Their defense is really strong. A 3-1 or 4-1 ratio is what I would expect to have a chance to take them on. So 120-400 Saviors is what I think would be needed to take Alexandria from behind the walls. And that's assuming the Saviors are as well armed as Alexandria.

Or they could do some Trojan horse. Or they just open the gates when they come back with glen, rosita, daryl, michonne maybe? But I suspect they will find a way to get out and kill that group of 10 or whatever Saviors.

S6 E16 - Last Day on Earth

Title reference - Rick makes a threat to Saviors this is their last day on earth. The savior returns it with a vicious spike.

B plot is Morgan is still searching for Carol, finds her, treats her wound a little, she sneaks off, gets found by Savior she shot but didn't kill, he shoots her twice to torture her, Morgan is forced to kill because he cares for Carol and Alexandria.

A plot is Maggie is in trouble from her baby issues and Rick, Eugene, Abraham, Sasha, Carl, Aaron go with. Everyone in the RV is going for Hilltop to see the doctor. First they meet a savior with a crew of 8 on the road. They turn back and take another path. Crew of 15. Turn back another path. Crew of 25. Turn back another path. Blocked by a pile of logs 20' high and set on fire. Turn back, another path, crew of 50. New plan, Eugene takes RV and plays the game, everyone else carries Maggie by foot. They are led into a clearing where we see the RV and Eugene and see maybe 100 guys all whistling.

I'm giving a really brief summary but the ending was eerie, goosebump raising. I started off yelling at them at the first group to ram it or use the RPG. First group they could have taken. Honestly was a little surprised when they didn't.

Daryl, Rosita, Michonne, Glen are brought out of the back of a truck.

Negan comes out of an RV. Gives a 10 minute + monologue. First, he's John Winchester. 2nd, he's badass. 3rd, he's got a bat named Lucille. Carl had a gun with a bat with wire around it carved into the grip. I didn't think anything of it, but that was one of the Saviors guns.

First things first, Negan seemed to negotiate against himself. He started off saying gimme all your shit. But then a few minutes later its only half their shit. I mean, thats classic poor negotiating right there.

Negan calls himself or maybe his philosophy of gimme your shit or die as the New World Order (new-new-new world order). But since they killed so many of his men, someone has to die. Abraham sat up tall and looked him straight in the eyes. Carl has a Saviors gun. Daryl I'm pretty sure told Dwight he killed all those guys before, so I think that makes it to Negan. Maggie looks like shit so he might figure she's dying anyways, and killing a woman would fuck with their morale in different ways than a man. Glen reacted when getting close to Maggie and caused Negan to reprimand him. Michonne looked him dead in the eye, Eugene has been having a lot of growth lately, and was driving the RV, I could see them making him the example. And he gave Rick the formula for making bullets.

Ends from the good guy point of view. They "taking it like a champ" and require multiple shots.

10/10. I'm simultaneously really wanting to see the next episode and at the same time, not. This is going to be gruesome. I'm going to be watching through my fingers I'm guessing. We saw the polaroids in teh Savior base.

I don't think it was Rick period. He's the leader, I don't think Negan wants a wild card leading. He wants someone leading that he just beat the ever loving shit out of and rubbed his face in it all.

I don't think Maggie is in any position to struggle back up. But she would also be the biggest villain factor, given she's pregnant. Michonne... mayyybe? I mean this is going to end up brutal. If they do this to a woman, I will be shocked. And they already killed Denise. So i feel like if they killed a woman here, there would be calls of the group being sexist and shit. Carl, I don't think he can take multiple shots. He's turning into a badass but not there yet strength wise. But he had the gun and who knows, maybe the sheriff's hat is reinforced so it was an aided withstanding. Aaron didn't stand out and honestly would feel a biiiiit like a cop out. But I could totally see them doing that. I mean he's newest in the group. Rosita, naw, she wasn't sticking out and again a woman. Sasha, same story.

Percentage chance death:
Abraham - 60%. I gave him a death watch 5 episodes for breaking up with Rosita. And he and Sasha were talking about babies. So it kind of feels like his story has gone full arc. He lost a family, lost all meaning, found Eugene, found meaning, lost that meaning but found Sasha, found meaning to live. So now he can die. Also most likely to get back up.

Aaron - 20%. Total cop out, he's newest character, barely know him. But he's totally expendable. If they have nothing else for him to do, why not sacrifice him? To reiterate, terrible choice, but I think 2nd most likely.

Eugene - 15%. He's been growing on me and often when that happens, death is nigh.

Glen - 2%. He reacted earlier and stood out to Negan. If he doesn't want to kill Maggie, killing Glen would break her and he can see this. But if they killed Glen so soon after the fakeout... wow. Aside from that, from Negan's perspective, Glen has to be one of the most likely candidates. But he's got some pretty thick plot armor at this point.

Carl - 1% He had the gun and this would wreck Rick. Might be a super destructive death Rick. I suppose they could kill Rick and Carl in one go. Negan's whole thing is give me your shit, so if someone has his shit, that could be deserving of death on the spot. But again, plot armor.

Daryl - 1% He's known to have killed the most and is the most clear badass and he's been wounded already and this is like the only way I could see Daryl going out. But I bet Dwight wants Daryl to work for him. And plot tank (better than just armor).

Part of the remaining 1% - Maggie, Sasha, Rosita, Michonne, Rick.

i figured i was going to watch WD at some point. i avoided WD specific topics and when I come across a spoilers in the random topics I just close out of them as soon as I notice something spoiler-y. This has worked for nearly all fiction, except for Harry Potter series spoiler Snape kills Dumbledore just because those names are so unique and that spoiler itself became a meme

I remember a lot of outage at one point. I remember names being named but this is such a large cast, before going into this I think Carl (or Coral) was the only name I remembered due to that meme when Rick finds out his wife is dead (already forgot her name...).

I should probably take the outrage into account. I think I would remember it if it was a woman being killed. For maximum outrage aside from women, it would have to be Rick, Carl, Glen, Daryl. I think I would have remembered if it was Carl. Like I would remember people saying they killed a kid brutally. Rick I think Negan has a bigger purpose for him, he wants a tamed, broken leader. So in that regard Glen and Daryl are most likely in danger. Daryl has to be overall the most popular character on the show at this point, so I doubt it's him but that would certainly piss a lot of people off. If this is Glen, they really fucked up with the fakeout then. So I could see absolute outrage then. But that also seems so shitty to the actor himself "alright you're going to skip 8 episodes and then get killed 5 episodes later" or whatever it ended up being.

Abraham I don't see outrage over. Even though I gave him a death watch, I don't hate him, and like I said, he's got a full story arc. Aaron, I could see outrage if he died in a "this is bullshit, you made us wait a year to kill off the least important member" type thing. But I don't think that was mood I remember. Eugene is a bit of a wild card. I could see the fandom really falling behind him this season. In a lot of ways he is the typical audience member's avatar. So I could see real outrage for him too. If they do Abraham and Eugene... I could see a lot of people pissed at that basically washing away gains from season 4.

Anyway, starting it up now.

S7 E1 - The Day Will Come When You Won't Be

Title reference - Didn't catch it. I'm guessing a quote, probably Negan, I just can't place when or why.

Rick has blood on his face and you hear crying. Negan taunts Rick, Rick says he is going to kill Negan. We are formerly introduced to Simon, Negan's right hand man. Simon appears to be good at keeping track of fine details, he remembers Rick has a hatchet. Later he remembers Daryl's name. He's a solid right hand man. Negan takes Rick for a ride. Ends up where they set the logs on fire. That drew in a lot of zombies of course. Negan throws his axe out the RV and tells him to get him his axe (everything that was Rick's is Negan's).

Rick has flashbacks of people. Rosita, Glen, Sasha, Eugene, Abraham, Aaron, Maggie, Daryl, Michonne, Carl. I was trying to remember, was that just their order or was there some other meaning? Like at first it was oh shit! Rosita and Glen are dead?! But then as they did everyone it was, are they actually going kill Carl this way? Or Michonne? Halfway expecting the reveal to be the very end of the episode at this point.

Anyway, flashbacks are happening in RV and as Rick is fighting zombies and then laying on top of RV. Negan helps when necessary to ensure he gets his axe back through Rick's work. But when Rick is slacking he motivates him.

Back to end of last episode, Negan doing eenie meenie minie moe. Abraham is the very best one. Negan gives him two good ones. Abraham is giving Sasha a peace sign and tells Negan to suck his nuts. Negan whales on Abraham until its just mush.

Negan taunts the group with his bat Lucille. A dirty girl and a vampire bat. He specifically points out Rosita asking if they were together. Daryl jumps up and punches Negan. You stupid mother fucker Daryl. At this point I figured Daryl was going to die. Like he was going to go back to the movies and play basically this character on the big screens or something. But no. Not Daryl. Gotta pick someone else. I guess Glen made the most sense here, he already gave him a warning. And this is to the group as a whole. Abraham was the one most proudly defiant, Glen was the first to react against the rules and warned. The group is responsible for the individual, wham wham.

Glen's eye is bulging out. With great difficulty he tells Maggie "Maggie I'll find you". Bunch more blows to the head, Glen is mush.

Rick retrieves the axe for Negan, let back inside. Return to the camp. Negan still doesn't like the look in Rick's eye so he brings Carl out and draws a line on Carl's arm (Simon has a marker handy, good right hand man). Tells Rick to cut off Carl's arm or everyone here is dead. They had me doubting here. Is he going to make Rick actually do that? Carl tells him to just do it. But no, Negan stops him at the last minute.

Rick is broken sufficiently. Negan is satisfied and leaves with a truck and the RV. There is debate about getting back and fighting or getting Maggie to Hilltop, at the end it seemed like the RV was taking the corpses and everyone but Maggie and Sasha to Hilltop and everyone else to Alexandria? I think we'll find out next episode.

Rick has a daydream of a bbq with everyone including Glen and presumably his future son and Abraham and visibly pregnant Sasha.

Wow. This is a hard episode to rate.

9/10. It's either that or like a 2/10. Thankfully they didn't do an extended episode. That would be unbelievably rough.

RIP Glen and Abraham.

I've called Abraham for a while and said all I have to say.

Glen I said a lot about what I thought when they did the fakeout. I think they will lose millions of viewers with his confirmed death. I bet he was the favorite of like 1/2 the audience at times. And I doubt anyone disliked him. I hope this was at his request. If not, the show runners realllllly are stupid.

He didn't die a punks death. Like there was nothing anyone could do here. This was you gotta take it on the chin moment for the entire group. In story line it makes sense why Negan would choose him. As he showed with Carl's arm, he's got a good sense on how to antagonize the enemy. He broke the group with the fewest death's necessary.

I can totally see why people would drop here if you had been watching real time. I've been watching for 2 months and this is a gut punch. I can imagine watching for years it would be like what am I watching this for?! for some fans.

Also it has been a long time since we had a season 1 death. Was Andrea the last one?

I teared up a bit a the end.

I don't know what the group does from here. Based on the "Alexandria is as strong as the plot demands", I feel like we HAVE to live with the saviors for a while. So they will be giving up their shit. But they can make ammo and stuff. But if the Saviors know that they can take all that shit. So its going to be like some resistance underground develop power and ties with other communities and strike at once or something?

I dunno. I might change the score later, I'm going to go mow the lawn for now.

Yeah, Glenn was definitely a fan favorite. And in the comic book, Glen was the only one that was killed by Negan in that scene. So it was expected.

I know a lot of us breathed a sigh of relief when it was Abraham... And then Glenn died anyway and we were upset all over again lol. It was a really rough episode and a lot of people didn't stick around until the end of the season.

yeah it wasnt at glens actors request
this was his fate in the comics. it was the 100th issue so they wanted to go big and kill off one of the characters that had been there since the start and glen was one of the most beloved characters in series and among the fanbase

the show ruined the impact with his fake out death and making us wait until seaosn 7 to find out who died when really it should have been the ending to season 6

Yeah this is where I stopped. I liked Glenn like everyone else but he was already dead when he fell off that dumpster. Not a chance of survival but when they showed him alive again that's really where I stopped caring for the show but still went through the finale and season premier for curiosity.

Not to take away from your experience because I hope you enjoy it through to its current seasons. You get the benefit of not having to wait for the next episode.

well the show often does do things differently
like at this point in the show andrea is long dead. but she was alive at this point in the comics and was the most popular female character while her tv show counterpart was hated

carols daughter in the comics didnt die. she survived the entire series
carol though was not a badass in the comics. her main claim to fame was the time she asked lori if her lori and rick could have a threesome and then went crazy when lori rejected her. choosing to feed herself to a walker

had they followed the comics carol never would have survived past season 3 and now carol is to badass to get her comics death

the governor would have cut off ricks hand when they met if it was comic accurate
but they didnt want to bother with the special effects it would take to make it look like the lead character didnt have a hand all the time so they let him keep it

the point im trying to make is that glenns suffering his comic counterparts fate was never 100% assured because the show changes things all the time

I just rewatched the scene on YouTube. Yeah it's not a fake out there were dozens of zombies closer than shoulder to shoulder. He was dead there was no other possible outcome. What they did was comeback with a reshot scene to make him survive. From then on he was zombie Glenn but somehow he maintained all his intelligence and didn't start to decompose.

well the show often does do things differently
like at this point in the show andrea is long dead. but she was alive at this point in the comics and was the most popular female character while her tv show counterpart was hated

carols daughter in the comics didnt die. she survived the entire series
carol though was not a badass in the comics. her main claim to fame was the time she asked lori if her lori and rick could have a threesome and then went crazy when lori rejected her. choosing to feed herself to a walker

had they followed the comics carol never would have survived past season 3 and now carol is to badass to get her comics death

the governor would have cut off ricks hand when they met if it was comic accurate
but they didnt want to bother with the special effects it would take to make it look like the lead character didnt have a hand all the time so they let him keep it

the point im trying to make is that glenns suffering his comic counterparts fate was never 100% assured because the show changes things all the time
Fair enough. I never read the comics, but I know that while the show was still airing, there were a lot of comic book fans that were so sure that Glen would die by Lucile, just like in the comics. They really wouldn't shut up about it in any discussion about the show during season 6.

Just thought I'd throw it out there.

The episode title "The day will come when you won't be" is a throwback to the finale of Season 1. When Rick asked Dr. Jenner for a chance and he opened up the doors. Rick said he was grateful and Dr. Jenner said "The day will come when you won't be."

Thanks, that's explain why I didn't get the reference this time. That's a long time to remember a specific quote.

S7 E2 - The Well

Title reference - The Tiger King Ezekial lets people drink from the well that contribute to to the well.

Warning - i spilled some water on my keyboard and it's acting funky. it randomy goes to post / save changes

This is a Carol and Morgan episode.

Guys on horses live in the kingdom. They save Carol who has been shot multiple times. The kingdom is led by Ezkekial. He has a tiger. He was a zoo keeper and community theater actor turned larger than life charismatic leader of a group of survivors.

Honestly, he seems legit. His group seems solid. He's gonna bang Carol. You show up at a womans house with a tiger, she's gonna put out eventually.

They seem like they need to be a strong ally to Rick and the survivors. With them and Hilltop, they could take on the Saviors now...

9/10 episode. I was expecting downer episode mourning Glen. Thankfully got the Tiger King. it's silly but whatever, i like it. The kingdom seems better than Alexandria right now.

S7 E3 - The Cell

Title reference - Daryl is being kept in a cell.

Starts off with a day (week? month?) in the life of Dwight and some possible answers as to what motivates / keeps people like him in line. He gets good sandwiches. Like fresh artisan bread, farm fresh eggs and cheese, fresh from the ground veggies, etc. But he watches people get beat up, steals, and basically is a thug for hire.

Daryl gets to eat dog food. He starts off naked then is given what is basically a pillow case with arm and head holes as a shirt and lousy pants. His shirt has A painted on it. There are others like Daryl wearing those clothes. They get different letters. I don't know if the letters are a ranking or what. Most people with the shirt have to play some sort of game with zombies that are tied up in a yard? Like they have to take a bucket off the head of tethered and pierced zombies and put it on another one or something? I dunno. Some guy left, Dwight chased him down, killed him. Zombie version of guy was later in the cell area as a tethered zombie.

Anyway, Daryl is in a cell. Small isolated, concrete, dark, presumably cold. some song that sings Easy Street a lot is played repeatedly as a form of torture to break daryl. Daryl is taken to the doctor. There we see Sherry, the hot former wife of Dwight, now wife of Negan. The dead girl was her sister, Negan offered to marry the sister for a supply of insulin. Instead dwight stole the insulin, they ran, sister died, Dwight begged for forgiveness of Sherry, Sherry divorced Dwight and married Negan so Dwight could survive. And now Dwight eats sandwiches. But dwight still got the Home Alone treatment and got an iron to the face. A lot of that was shared at the end by Negan gloating how Dwight came in line and how Daryl can too Negan likes Dwight's hustle. Oh and people bow to Negan when he comes in the room.

Negan gives Daryl the chance to say he is Negan at the end, Daryl says he is Daryl. Dwight thinks Daryl made a mistake. Dwight shows Daryl a polaroid. I couldn't see it really. I suspect it was Glen. Maybe Abraham.

Oh and it seems like basically no one is actually happy with Negan. Rules by fear and domination and intimidation. And he doesn't even have a tiger.

9/10. Both this compound and the kingdom seem like good, realistic places.

I wonder what Negan was before the apocalypse. He seems like Tony Perkins from Heavyweights to me. Or whatever Ben Stiller's character's name was in Dodge Ball. That's because he likes hustle. Maybe a coach or gym teacher. Or something like an infomercial salesman. Or some sort of high pressure sales manager maybe?

I am not looking to get back to Alexandria any time soon...

If you've watched Teen Titans or Young Justice, Ezekiel's actor is the voice of Cyborg and Aqualad. And Black Manta. And Black Lightning. And Brick.

Basically, the dude was Cyborg in Teen Titans and half the supporting cast of Young Justice.

I missed my first day of reviews, ended up going to a fireworks display last night with my nieces and nephew (privilege of living in an area with a private beach).

S7 E4 - Service

Title reference - Negan provides service of killing a walker when coming to take his stuff.

Ugggggh, this is a long episode and the first one back at Alexandra. Let's see what happens...

Michonne leaves early to practice sniper shooting on zombies. She is not good.

Negan and crew show up. About what you would expect. Negan gloating, making sure Rick knows he's in charge. They take nearly all the mattresses just to burn them. They take all teh guns because of course they would. Rosita and Spencer collect Daryl's bike. Daryl doesn't talk all episode, just catatonic.

Everyone feels like shit. Carl fucks up shooting a warning shot. Rosita collects a gun from one of Negan's dead guys that shot at her, abraham, eugene, daryl. And she went to Eugene at the end to get a single bullet made.

Gabriel lies about Maggie being dead, she's clearly at hilltop with Sasha. I don't think that lie will come free.

Some guy creeps on Enid to make her say please for some balloons.

6/10. Honestly there wasn't anything wrong with this episode and it was necessary and I knew something like this was coming, I just didn't want to see it. And making it an hour long is just cruel.

At this point, Hilltop and Alexandria need to swear allegiance to King Ezekial and let the Kingdom lead the fight against the saviors. The 3 of them would be enough to take on teh Saviors... so long as they get more guns and ammo (really ammo is what matters).

S7 E5 - Go Getters

Title reference - Simon is telling Gregory about the massacre of the old savior group by Ricks group and how Rick has come around and works for them now and that group is real go getters.

Maggie awakes to Dr. Hilltop. Baby is ok. Glen's genes will live on. But she needs to take it careful, blah blah blah and needs to stay there.

Maggie and Sasha visit Glen and Abraham's graves. Maggie leaves the watch Hershel gave to Glen on Glen's grave. Sasha only has a cigar to remember Abraham by. Gregory comes by pissed at there being graves. Then blames Maggie for not killing all the saviors. Gregory wants them gone for plausible deniability.

Rick and Aaron are going on a supply run. Carl doesn't join. Carl see's Enid climbing the wall. He talks to her and says he won't save her again. She leaves. She's riding a bike. Sees a puddle of blood. Stops. There's a zombie i dunno, 10, 20 feet away? easy peasy gets a lemon squeezy. but she doesn't for some stupid reason. Here comes carl the driver without depth perception and he takes out the zombie, the bike, and the car.

Maggie and Sasha sleep at Jesus' place or something? But he's not staying there. So Jesus may be getting some. Anyway, wake up middle of the night to music playing. They are locked into their mobile home and windows are barred. Have to go through the top. Bonfires everywhere. Car in middle of the entrance to Hilltop welded closed. Sasha, Jesus, the fighters of Hilltop mobilize. Maggie is told to stay put for the babby. She doesn't listen. Gets a giant tractor. Drives over zombies with like 8' dually tires. Drives over the car. Turns it off. Gate is shut. The day is saved. Huzzah!

Carl and enid walk and talk about killing negan or something. I dunno, this was boring. at some point they find roller skates. project zomboid with roller skates would be fun. and bicycles.

Maggie, Jesus, Sasha go back to Gregory trying to plead their case. They saved the day ... or night. He keeps saying no. Suddenly, saviors! It's Simon. Now he's Gregory's Negan. Now I don't know if this is a power play by Simon or if this is just the "everyone is Negan" stuff. Regardless, Simon may not be the great #2 I thought he was. Simon tries to see if Gregory had anything to do with the Rick situation. Gregory plays it cool. Anyway, from here they take half their stuff. Gregory tries to sell out Sasha and Maggie but instead gives away his scotch.

Carl and Enid are at the hilltop and see the saviors packing up. The split up. Enid goes to the graves, Carl sneaks in the back of a truck.

Sasha and Maggie are hiding in a closet, but wrong closet! It was the bedroom closet. Presumably that is where the scotch was originally. Jesus forces Gregory to let Maggie and Sasha stay. Jesus wants Maggie to run Hilltop. Jesus agrees to find out with Negan lives for Sasha and keep it a secret from Maggie.

Jesus and Carl are in the same truck. Jesus is bemused by the situation.

8/10. Good action, we I am pretty sure, learn that Glen's last name, and now Maggie's, is Rhee. Carl got his first kiss I think. I hope that wasn't his first kiss in real life. I feel sorry for those kid actors that their first kiss is on camera.

S7 E6 - Swear

Title reference - Cindy makes Tara swear she won't tell anyone, including Alexandria about... did they ever give the name of their town? I didn't catch it if they did.

New group introduced. First is blood thirsty Rachel. She kills a zombie and runs off to kill more. Spots Tara washed up on the beach, Tara almost killed by Rachel but Cindy stops her, she's human. Cindy still wants to kill her but is overruled.

Heath and Tara are on a run together. Come to a bridge that was turned into a town or something. Find a wall of sand. Tara tugs at a backpack. Walkers everywhere. Honestly the sand walkers were pretty awesome.

Tara and Heath get separated and Tara wakes up on an Island. Cindy brings her food. Tara follows. Tara is spotted. Tara has a chance to kill but doesn't. Cindy saves Tara again. Tara lies. Tara tells some truths. Tara tells the full truth and is a bad liar.

The group lies, says they are going to send her back but they are going to kill her out in the woods. Tara runs. Tara fights. Tara is going to die. Cindy saves Tara again! Cindy and Tara team up and Tara makes it back to the other side of the bridge. Along the way get a fake out of a Heath zombie, but its a woman. Tire tracks other side of the bridge. Saviors?

Tara makes her way happily back to Alexandria. Comes back to see a fucked up Eugene. Hears about what happened to Denise, Abraham, Glen. With Rosita talks about revenge. Rosita wants a lead on guns. Tara keeps her promise to Cindy.

7/10. Best Tara episode to date. I feel like this group could have been more interesting if Tara was more interesting.. if that makes any sense. Like Carol was able to learn seemingly all the secrets of the Kingdom just by being Carol. This group seems stronger than Hilltop, at least under Gregory's leadership. Hope Heath is alright.

I always felt that episode would have worked better as a beth episode instead of tara episode had beth not had one of the series worst written deaths.

Think about it. Tara scavenged with Glenn so her making a rookie scavenging mistake like that doesn't make much sense to get her split off from heath but would work with beth who spent a lot of her time being protected and sheltered before.

Tara actually comes across as sort of tough when you meet her so it would make more sense for oceanside to kill her to stay safe from potential threats

Where as beth seems weak and vulnerable which would lead to people underestimating her and thinking they could just easily kill her if she turned out to be a problem.

Plus It would hype up the tragedy to have beth come back and learn about her brother in laws fate

S7 E7 - Sing me a Song

Title reference - Negan tells Carl to sing for him.

Aaron and Rick spot something they didn't see the night before.

The truck Jesus and Carl is in waits for a horde of walkers to pass. Once it does they start moving again. As they start getting close, Jesus says its time to get out. Carl is an idiot and stays. Carl has an automatic rifle. He kills 2 saviors, honestly he could have killed Negan then an there. He gets captured instead. Negan introduces Carl to his wives. Carl can look at their titties if he wants.

Eugene and Rosita go on a supply run, Gabriel and Spencer do as well. Spencer is being a shit head, Gabriel tells him as much and leaves to presumably walk back on his own.

Spencer finds a zombie on a hunting perch with a bow.

Negan makes Carl remove his eye patch, talks about how gross his eye is and how badass Carl is.

Spencer gets the bow and finds a note.

Eugene and Rosita are at the forge and make a bullet.

Negan takes Carl on a ride back to Alexandria.

Rick and Aaron are onto a big score it seems. House boat in the middle of the lake filled with half submerged walkers.

Negan is sitting on Rick's porch, holding Judith and acting like king shit.

6/10. Harsh rating, because honestly not a bad episode, it's just things have been too... I don't know. Pessimistic? For too long now. Like it seems inevitable that all the groups we've been meeting band together to take out Negan and the Saviors. And honestly it seems like you take out maybe the top 5 or 10 and the organization falls apart. Like I feel like Simon has to have a couple of right hand men. Dwight I think is in too deep. So guys like that.

Also it was an extended episode. Episodes like this... I don't like extended.

Next episode is mid season break i believe? So someone probably dies episode 8 or 9. Maybe Gabriel? He's out there on his own. Maybe Aaron?

Actually I am going to go back and say its not pessimism. It's like every action Negan takes, he is a raping something or someone. Not literal, but like the Vikings raping, pillaging, and plundering, only he focuses on the power differential. He just wants to like... mark or own everything. It's his. He will violate anything to make it so. That tone is carrying over the entire show and I can get why people dropped in large numbers this season. Even if Glen was hear I am not sure it would actually be better.

Like its to the extent I am not even sure how good of a villain Negan is. Like iconic villains often have something about them that kind of make you want to see them. Negan and his shenanigans just always feel dirty.

S7 E8 - Hearts Still Beating

Title reference - Didn't catch it.

Maggie is on the fence at Hilltop. Gregory is telling her not to feel too popular just because she saved the day. He's polishing an apple. She asks for it and a Hilltopian shames Gregory into giving it to her since she's pregnant. She'll be running the place very soon.

Negan teaches Carl how to shave.

Someone passes Daryl a key with a note to escape now. I'm guessing this was Sherry? The hotness that used to be Dwight's wife. Not sure who else it could be.

Spencer delivers his goods and a lady Savior wants his D. He acts like he's DTF.

Carol is chilling. Morgan delivers her produce. Then the right hand man of Ezekial (don't remember his name yet) comes to talk to Carol and Morgan that they will need to fight Negan.

Aaron and Rick make it to the houseboat after Aaron nearly dying in the pond.

Daryl escapes his cell and eats peanut butter in what appears to be Dwights room (has carvings).

Rick and Aaron load their score. Find a drawing of a middle finger saying they still lose or something to that effect. Someone is also watching them.

Michonne and her abducted savior are driving.

Gabriel tells Rosita she doesn't need to die. Actually some good acting here from both characters. Scene raised both of them up. Gabriel really captured a priest there and Rosita is adding some depth.

Ezekial's #2 has a hidden camper / RV with fuel and provisions and is upset that Carol and Morgan won't help. Seems like it's his bug out provisions. Smart guy.

Daryl is outside with the bikes. Comes across fat savior. Fat savior begs for mercy. Daryl is done playing around. I feel like we are going to get Daryl unleashed now. Jesus sees him and escapes with Daryl. Fat guy also had Rick's Colt.

Michonne and her savior stop. At a junction what I would have thought were hundreds of zombies are stated to be the Saviors. I don't think this is the main hide out is it? If it is they have shit for protection. Where were the large buildings they showed previously? This scene confused me a bit. I sort of expect this to be just another group of survivors but maybe integrated into the Saviors? I dunno.

Spencer dresses up and brings scotch to Negan. They then play pool. Spencer talks shit about Rick and gets gutted because he's being a little bitch.

Aaron and Rick return, give supplies, Saviors find the middle finger note and beat up Aaron for it (why didn't they throw it away?). Gunshot.

Rosita shot at Negan striking Lucille. Negan is pissed. Olivia gets killed by one of Negan's henchmen. Rosita said she made the bullet. Tara said she made the bullet. Eugene said no, he made the bullet. Eugene is taken away. Thankfully Rick has the bullet making recipe.

Rick shows up. Negan lays down the law. Rick swallows the load in his throat just like a good bitch. Negan leaves.

Michonne comes back. Tries to convince Rick they need to fight. He finally agrees.

Rick, Michonne, Rosita, Carl, Tara go to Hilltop. Tell Maggie they are ready to fight. Daryl is reunited. Rick gets his gun back.

After credits, see the mysterious shoes again.

I wish this hadn't been an extended episode. Hopefully this episode represents a tonal shift as they see a way out and have the will to fight again. These last episodes have been depressing.

8/10. Good episode just hard to watch due to the tone.
