Probably because its an excuse to put Bad Bunny in a movie. https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Juan-Carlos_Sanchez_(Earth-616) Here's a summary of the character - he's far from important, was a supporting character in like a 2-issue story. But its a fun little filler story you could easily remove Spider Man from and could legitimately be a good movie. It probably won't if its starring Bad Bunny, but who knows. Not gonna lie, I bet this was a completely unrelated-to-comics story Sony looked at, felt like they could take a character they have the rights to from Marvel with few changes and greenly the movie. IMO Joker also felt like "this movie was probably an unrelated movie with a comic coat of paint", so it could be a good one.
