I got nothing else to watch and Youtubes recommended a complete play through for Portal. I don't think I ever had as much rage for someone in my entire life.

I generally don't get triggered except when watching first timers play a character action game. There's so much variety and people will use 10% of it.

ya, Portal is a game where because I know the speed run route I get annoyed that people actually play it normally or, like, for fun.

Nah I hate when someone posts a video guide and it seems obvious they don't know either they just happen to eventually figure it out.

Don't list the damn video as a walk-through if it takes you 20 minutes to figure out what can be done in 5 if already knew. I don't use guides often these days but when I do I want it as short and to the point as possible.

Like it also annoys me when they are explaining shit in menus and they gotta toggle over option hover over the right option for like 10 seconds etc. Like bitch I have a pause button if you are going too fast for me.

I mean, it's just human nature to find a single strategy that works, and stick to it until it doesn't anymore.

Yeah mgsv has like hundreds of items and weapons and in stuck to mostly 3 the whole game. I should be ashamed. I didn't fuck around with cardboard boxes till after I beat the game.

I get that when watching casual YouTubers playing games I play a lot and tend to be OCD about (usually Minecraft).

Watching someone building an uneven house out of multiple mismatched types of wood or leaving behind tons of cobblestone when they mine makes my skin crawl.

To a lesser extent, I get the same when watching someone play a branching narrative game where they pick dialogue choices, and their choices are way different from the ones I'd pick.

What if I build one wall out of stone and another out of wood?

It can suck when you already know what to do, or figure it out while watching But if you dont, its not too bad

Still sucks to me in that if I end up interested in the game I'll miss out on figuring shit out myself. When TC said puzzle game I thought like tetris. Portal woulda been boring as hell if already knew what to do

Dan Birlew's strategy guides (for games like FFX and Chrono Trigger) are chock full of this. It's like he actively tries to make things as difficult for himself as possible (and then recounts that as the way for a player to do it).

What pisses me off as well are streamers or youtubers who purposely mess up or play poorly so they have longer game times for content.

My favorite (not favorite, I hated it) section was when he wrote about the first Seymour fight in FFX. He advised using Rikku to steal stuff from Seymour's minions while building up AP so you can summon Shiva. But you can summon her right away in that fight, it's part of the story. He's an idiot.

I'm not sure but I think you can still read his over-complicated psych profile/walkthrough of Silent Hill that he did here (he used the name President Evil).

And specifically, when you're still new to a game (especially one with a steep learning curve), trying new things while you're still working your way through can make things hard enough to prevent progress, so sticking with a single strategy that works until you've got enough of a grasp on the game to start experimenting with alternatives is pretty reasonable. The variety available in those games gives them a lot of replay value, but you don't need to explore all of it in one playthrough.

I just cant watch anybody play a game unless theyre basically gods at the game.

As far as me with walkthrough videos I seldom use them so I generally click on. Either what's first or shortest. It irks me more when these crappy ones where they dont know what they are doing are the top video to pop up on google

My ex use to think me playing FFX was frustrating.



Their nagging is probably why I never finished it.

I hate watching people play games I know how to play, especially classic one, because they always do such an terrible job.

I find Suisei's Tetris 99 streams to be relaxing.
