Pretty rewarding feeling when you plug someone 2/3rds of the way across a map with the E-Liter in Splatoon

Are you not one of those dudes who plays Skyrim with only bows and takes shots from over the horizon?

I rarely snipe in games. At least not long-range scoped shots from cover. I'm very much a medium-range shooter (except when I close in).

I'd use the DMR or BAR (depending on the game) to run-and-gun headshot in Halo (at least when the pistol wasn't more effective), with the Assault Rifle as my usual alternate weapon. In Destiny I mainly stuck to a Auto Rifle/Fusion Rifle loadout.

In Borderlands I tend to stick to pistols with submachine guns as backup. This is also my basic loadout for the Saints Row games (with shotgun as a fallback choice for some insane end-runs)... at least until I got the infinite ammo rocket launcher. GTA was mostly the same - my weapon of choice in GTA:O was the auto pistol.

In Mass Effect I usually just stick to pistols, unless I'm playing Vanguard, in which case I'm shotgunning. Same with Fallout - I mostly stick to pistols or shotguns (with Hunting Rifles an option at medium range).

I rarely play a ton of shooters so I can't think of all that many other examples. But I'm hard-pressed to think of even a single game where I went with sniping as my primary style.

Often it worked out synergistically - two of the people I tend to play shooters with do snipe - so in games like Halo or Borderlands I'd usually point out/trade them sniper rifles if I found them while they'd pass me the shorter range weapons they didn't want. Then I'd rush into combat and tank enemy attention while they lined up shots from a distance.

I loved to snipe with the engineer's rifle in Battlefield 1942. It was the same rifle as the sniper, except with iron sights instead of a scope. But as an engineer you got mines, explosives, the repair ability, and more ammo than the sniper.

Usually don't like the more hardcore sniper mechanics of something like Arma 3 w/ACE or Sniper Elite hard mode, but I do like something that deals in "partial realism" where you need to adjust your aim for bullet drop and windage. Point-and-shoot sniping feels kinda lame to me, unless you're sniping at close range.

I do enjoy the Sniper Elite games, but not on the harder difficulty settings

My play style is explosive overload
When I play destiny I do a riskrunner melt strategy, and use shadow shot to snipe.

Headshots all the way. I don't play too many shooters, but it was so satisfying in Borderlands 2 to zoom in on some unaware dope with a high-crit sniper and OHK him to soften up the base for invasion.

BL3 really dropped the ball on snipers though- It shouldn't take 4-5 headshots to take some regular enemy out, especially considering max sniper ammo is on the small side.

In BL2 I usually go pistols and SMGs too, BL3 though it's usually Shotguns / ARs / and SMGs. In both games sniper rifles are only used for very specific times. I think the best sniper I ever got in BL3 was the Monocle but it's been awhile.

I usually tend towards snipers in most shooters I play. I just love the high damage they do, and am usually pretty accurate so that makes up for low firing speed.

If I'm playing Vanguard in ME2 and ME3, I'm basically just constantly spamming Biotic Charge and occasionally unloading with shotgun - I won't even carry another gun in ME3 because I want my recharge speed to be as fast as possible. To be fair, though, I don't play on high difficulty, because I play those games for the narrative more than the combat challenge.

In ME1 I'm using pistols 99% of the time.

No option for "from the hip"
