Ever since Holzhauer's streak three years ago, it seems like every few months there's someone on a Jeopardy hot streak. Holzhauer was even usurped for the second longest streak a few months ago, though that wasn't as publicized for some reason.

Are streaks like this common, and they just didn't talk about them until recently? Or is there something else at play?

Its probably just due to the fact information is increasingly more available than in the past. Trivia is something some people just eat up nowadays.

Long streak champs give the show good ratings. They've been casting a lot of dumber people lately (it shows if you watch), so that the champs can go on runs.
