i have an apartment in a city with not much greenspace. i dont feel like i could give a dog what it needs as far as walks and whatnot. my cat gets a lot of attention, and she seems happy. i love both and would want both, but due to my current living situation, i dont feel its fair. if someone doesnt find me attractive for that, thats fine

Cats are great. Most people who hate cats and look down on men having them are the same people that talk about their "doggos" and "puppers" as if they're people. I like dogs too, but some people are creepy af about it. Keep that shit away from me.

I've heard the cats as a red flag for guys thing plenty of times. Hell I used to agree with that years ago as a person whose family always had at least one dog every year I lived at home, and when I adopted my cat last year it was still on the back of my mind. Maybe it's just oddly prevalent in Southern culture. You know it's still a thing because you can visit /r/cats with any post showing a youngish dude holding a cat and somebody will bring it up in the comments.

But I'm never getting rid of dis gato so if it comes down to the cat or some chick, it's the cat. I don't care if it was 2006/2010 Scarlett Johansson vs the cat, it's still gonna be the cat.. Unless the girl is actually allergic to cats in which case I might ask my sister or parents to look after the cat but I'm not dumping her into a shelter
