So, I got the big bad Covid in December. Aside from a brief fever, my biggest symptom was tremendous fatigue for weeks. I eventually got to a point where I was able to move around enough to get back to work.

Id say I completely recovered within about a month (I did nothing but sleep for weeks, lol). However, to this day I have some weird distortion of taste and smell. Its not everything. I can taste most foods. I think. Some stuff definitely feels like its dulled or numb. I do have this weird phenomenon where certain odors and foods smell and taste like Burnt Plastic. Yeah. Thats the best way I can describe it. Ever accidentally melt plastic on a stove top? Lid of butter, perhaps? Basically I smell and taste that.

Eggs and pork for sure have that overwhelming smell and taste. Some other items Im not sure I can detect at all.

Ive heard that some people have permanently altered sensations. Also heard there were aromatherapy treatments that could restore the senses. Has anybody tried these with success?

Its not the biggest issue, but I like eggs and even in foods I can taste, theres at least a minor flavor of that damn plastic in my mouth.

A few weeks ago, I went through a weird phase where even though I wasnt, I could smell and taste what I could only describe as heavy second hand smoke. Even if there was no cigarette around me whatsoever. Would just happen randomly. Felt like my nose and mouth was full of it. Even felt the reflex to try to cough. That has seemingly stopped happening.

So, thats good at least. However, looking for other experiences in hopes Ill regain my senses

Went through the same thing with the original strain. It unfortunately took me close to 16 months for everything to normalize

So you can taste now? What was the sensation for you? Ive heard it can be different for everyone. A friend I knew said every odor to him smelled like literal shit, lol. Said it was disgusting

Ive heard stories about people trying all kinds of different things to get there sense of smell/taste back to normal. Havent seen any successes though. As far as I can tell you just have to wait it out.

I have a friend that lost their taste and smell a year and a half ago and they have yet to return. Meanwhile, mine returned after a month.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

Maybe if I huff gasoline, itll damage the cells and force them to heal, repairing them. Or giving me brain damage, lol.

Btw never try to smell vinegar really hard. I tried to do so while my sense of smell was gone and I ended up crying for like 3 days straight since it burned all inside my nose.

There were many things that were dulled or just tasted somewhat different, The big one was onions though. They had a shit/chemical/rotten/rancid/acidic smell to them that made me gag. That lasted from September until like April, Coke also tasted like sweet chemicals as well. At this point everything seems to be back to normal and I can taste and smell like before.

I think I know what you mean with the pop. Certain ones do have a weird artificial taste to it that I can pick up on now. Hard to explain the taste distortion, though I can still enjoy it. Its more like an additional sweetness. Thankfully, not the rancid effect you were unlucky to experience.

So thats good you recovered. Im going since December. Heres hoping
