and hes rank 25 right now. meanwhile we won every set we played and my teams rank went from 15000 to 20000 for some reason? i dropped 5000 spots for beating top 1000 players lol

I really like this now. There's still the problem of having an entire cast of elaborate gimmick movesets to learn from scratch, but it's implemented well enough to not just be an adequate Smash-like but a good Smash-like. I'm a bit concerned with the F2P stuff, though. I unlocked one character and it seemed like I wouldn't be able to unlock another for quite a while. Maybe that won't be an issue without the time limit of a few days, but there will also be more characters. Or maybe I'll spend money. Something like this is worth it.

I played for a few hours yesterday and was able to get Arya, superman and a few perks so it doesn't seem that bad for one day of playing. I'm not too worried about it

I actually did ask some of my real life friends, but none of them seemed interested in it.

I did play a bit over the weekend myself, with mainly using Bugs Bunny, and I won my first online FFA match, which was nice.

That's pretty much what they're banking on to make money on this game, plus the Battle Pass. It being F2P significantly lowers the entry-barrier to get people actively playing the game, which is a problem that a lot of fighting games face down the line, if they're not one of the super popular IPs.

The fact that you can try out any character in the Lab regardless of whether or not you unlocked them is a good way to get people spending to get characters so someone can't be like, "WTF? I bought Saruman and he sucks!" (I mean that can still happen when they fight other players online, but at least they would have some idea how the character is like)

think free currency is pretty frontloaded (or possibly inflated for the purposes of being an alpha).

also they let you have the premium battlepass for free which probably gives more currency (i didnt check so i could be wrong).

it'll probably be easy to unlock 1, maybe 2 characters early on then will slow down drastically. unless theyre banking on skins making money

Okay I just played for like 4 hours and this game is a lot of fun. I was tearing people up with Superman and Bugs but there were a few matches where I got completely obliterated too.

I just played against a Harley who completely wrecked me and barely took 50 damage. It felt like they were playing on a different PLANET. No idea what to do in those matches where they're bouncing around the screen at 100mph and you can't hit them.

I fought a Shaggy that was like fighting Justin Wong or some shit.

After about 10-20 hours I'm starting to have a little less fun but maybe it's just because people are wising up to Superman's super armor. But it does feel like every character is way too fast/mobile and way too safe. Being able to dash out of every attack at any moment is a little too ridiculous I think.

I mean I know I'm abusing Superman's armor but I shouldn't be able to fully charge an attack and then dash out of it. I can basically just spam it and fish for pokes to my armor or dash away for no punish.

Also I know Shaggy is the beginner character or whatever but I'm already getting pretty sick of seeing him and Harley in every other game. The good Shaggy players will just run away and throw sandwiches at you and then follow-up once you get hit. They can also combo into like 50 damage if they manage to snag you with their neutral air. And good Harley players are just untouchable with bombs and traps all over the stage.

I tried playing Arya and Batman but it feels so hard to get a kill with them. Bugs also suffers from the same problem that I can basically only kill off the top but there's so much air mobility that people just fast fall back to the stage immediately.

I haven't spent any time looking at guides for characters or anything so maybe there are tools to counter these issues but everyone triangle dashing around like Magneto and fishing for hits is getting a little old.

From a casual viewer, the game looks slow as hell so that's an interesting complaint lol

I agree it does look a lot slower than it feels. But I feel like I'm spamming air dodge and dodge about as much as I was when I was playing Nick All Stars! Since there's no block you really have to be moving and dodging constantly because it's the only way to actually avoid getting hit.

When you remove shields, shield pressure, and grabs, the entire game becomes about spacing and footsies which can be a little frustrating when everyone has the aerial mobility of Jigglypuff.

Really having an issue with L3 not returning to the dead zone soon enough and accidentally doing directional instead of neutrals.

I was having a similar problem except the snap back was making me do my neutrals in the wrong direction... every single fucking time.

So I just bit the bullet and started using the bumpers for regular and special neutrals.

Played a Garnet who was using a badge that showed they had 650 games in the tech 2 alpha. I can't put into words how badly this Garnet demolished my Superman.

I pretty much quit playing because TFTs new set got released and I love that game but I kind of echo some of skulls complaints? I do enjoy the movement but it does feel like punishing a good opponent is almost impossible with how quickly you can cancel out of whatever you want so actually winning neutral can be a challenge. I'll try it out more next beta and see how I feel after some downtime but Im still enjoying the game. Making things less forgiving would help my enjoyment though
