It's not so much that they get more than anyone else (with the possible exception of the Wii, since there was a rather aggressive movement to capitalize on the motion controls and high popularity among the casual market, though that was tempered by the more limited digital distribution abilities) as it is that they have no sweet clue how to make a digital storefront and you therefore end up seeing all of it whenever you try shopping unless you know exactly what you want to buy. --- This is my signature. Young children are probably more likely to own a Nintendo console than the other consoles. These kids will see something related to something they like, and immediately want it, with no regard given to what the quality might be. The continuing presence of shovelware tells me that this strategy actually pays off. adjl posted... they have no sweet clue how to make a digital storefront and you therefore end up seeing all of it whenever you try shopping unless you know exactly what you want to buy. This as well, though. There's shovelware garbage that clearly isn't targeted to kids, either. I keep seeing one on the Switch called "Syberia" which straight up looks like an early Dreamcast game, and it's often reduced in price to less than a dollar. EDIT: I just learned that Syberia literally was a game from like 2002 that they've randomly ported to modern consoles, lmao. The vast majority of games I get for Nintendo consoles are 1st party titles. I'll pick up one or two 3rd party game per generation, but most aren't shovelware (unless you consider No More Heroes and Shovel Knight to be shovelware). I honestly have no clue why people pick up 3rd party games on Nintendo consoles, it is always going to be the worst version of the game. --- After 16 years, I have decided my signature will NOT be about my job! For AAA titles, sure, but most indie games run just as well on the Switch as anywhere else. I actually prefer it for many Roguelikes because the portability is such a good fit for the short sessions they promote. The_Viscount posted...
