All the main characters but 1 having the same backstory.
Laguna being the best character in the game yet hardly turning up.
Uninspired fantasy ideas (Guns, Cars)
The imaginative but still terrible GF and Draw system.
Enemy scaling making levels pointless

And the time travel/Time compression villain plot is just lame.

Not to mention Squall being one the most boring and bland main characters of all time who has a 180 character shift out of the blue 2/3rds in just to push the plot.

Answering every conversation with "...." "...Whatever" isn't cool or interesting or edgy, it's just boring.

I just think 7 and 9 blow it out of the water in tone, atmosphere, gameplay, characters, charm music.

Christ just compare Melodies of Life to whatever the fuck pop song they used in FF8.

I think it's only regarded as a masterpeice because it's about as good looking as any PS1 game (at least large one) can be. Graphics were incredible for the time.

I kinda group it, Crysis and RE4 together in that regard. Games which are okay but got overpraised due to looking good on release.

Have you ever woken up one day and gone "Boy, I wanna go replay FF8?" I doubt it.

I would've rather had a FF game based around Laguna's adventures. At least he had a personality.

Also sucks that Fujin was stuck in that trash game.

I like most of it, but I have always hated the time compression and final dungeon part, and I agree with you 100% on Squall being boring and Laguna being the more interesting character
