and somewhat the senate

well this was your first mistake. The senate has a couple of imposters. He tries to appease them but they prove exactly who they are every time and that's hurting him. I don't know what could or should be done about it other than having those senators be out of play by whatever circumstance, but his hands are at least somewhat tied and he has not handled that ideally but I don't know that he has better options in the scope of what he can and can't do in his position.

Honestly I don't know but he's the one that ran on the platform of being able to work with both sides. It's stupid to try to play nice with a side that obviously doesn't have to follow any standards.

I agree, and I don't like it. That's why I didn't give him a higher score. I don't know that the alternative of just saying fuck you to the other side would have been not worse though. It hasn't been attempted by democrats, and I don't think Biden was the best choice to test it. That's why the whole situation is as annoying as it is.

Yeah I really don't know what's best. I just know developing a spine and using what power he does have would get him alot more support than trying to work both sides and getting very little done. One thing I do think he has handled well is the Ukraine situation. He has a very level head and good approach on that I feel.

I agree mostly. Maybe a bit more pessimistic. I would like to see more spine for sure... but I am skeptical about the effect that would have. Unlike a certain worthless piece of shit that should have never been born, Biden I feel listens to people around him. If he is walking the middle, I have to assume he is being advised to do so. Does that make it the right call? No. Does it mean that people close to him are assuming that taking a further left approach could be more damaging in the long run? I have to assume yes, and I abhor that potential outcome worst of all. If his options are "toe the middle line and be hated" vs. "break further left and fuck the Democratic party even more because of bullshit scumbag right backlash," I can't say he didn't make the best call. I can't say he did either. But we are in a damage control era in American politics. The cautious approach satisfies no one... but that doesn't make it wrong. I dunno. There is a lot to unpack.

Yeah the unfortunate thing with the current Congress is what more can Biden do? Piss off Manchin and he can't even pass through federal judges anymore. He could play hardball and threaten to cut off federal aid to West Virginia but I doubt that would hold up in SCOTUS. And again, piss off Manchin so that Biden can't even pass through judges.

Don't get me wrong there's more he could do in general. Like cancel student debt and reschedule marijuana. But a lot of his ineffectiveness is because Manchin is a DINO and won't allow a more liberal Senate agenda.

I don't really know. I feel like the right is already set and your not going to change their minds. The middle and the left can and will lose enthusiasm and votes. There probably isn't a right answer and I think we may be at a point we are just to far divided. Of course that's my pessimistic take.

I'm adopted and there was a reason he couldn't have children of his own, with couldn't translating to shouldn't

To his credit he treated me better than his father treated him, but that only really just means he's alive.

Generally speaking, you probably shouldn't judge a president until 10 years after they leave office and, at this point, Biden has only been in office 2 years. However, so far he's done a terrible job. Despite having a vaccine, COVID deaths have skyrocketed. He's blocked drilling contracts in the middle of a global energy crisis. And he's unironically setting up what many have dubbed "The Ministry of Truth."

I'm not necessarily going to fault him for the failed withdrawal from Afghanistan -- even though the intelligence community repeatedly warned what would happen -- because the last few presidents each deserve a bit of the blame but, on the whole, I'm not sure what Biden has done right so far.

I don't know why I expected better from Biden, but he's been a constant letdown. Anybody except Bernie, Yang, and Tom Steyer might've done a better job among the Democratic candidates.

He also promised to curate the vaccine distribution (and instead did EXACTLY what Trump would've done by leaving it to the states). There are a lot of promises he broke almost immediately.

5 is probably fair.

As expected, conservatives hate him for having a D next to his name, liberals think he's too conservative, and as a result not many people think he's doing a good job.

Steady and Slow Joe

I'd give him a 5 so far, for his handling of Ukraine, for committing to the (admittedly botched) withdrawal from Afghanistan, and for not being Trump.

Edit: 6 was too generous. Revised to 5
