Or are we only comfortable throwing other people under the bus to fix the economy? Since the conservative argument seems to be that you can fix the economy or "be woke" but not both.

Literally the opposite. Republicans since Reagan have had it in their head that they can cut taxes on the wealthy and increase military spending at the same time and it will all somehow work out. George Bush callled it "voodoo economics", and was incidentally one of the reasons why he was a one term president. It's not popular to tighten up your belt and start paying down debt. He's actually a really interesting president, if you wanna look at the birth of the modern Republican party it starts with them rejecting him and the idea that you should do things when in power. Any thing.

Anyways the only time the we ever start making a dent in the deficit is when a Democrat is in office. Then they get voted out, the Republicans start jacking off the rich again, and suddenly we just can't afford to find money for Social Security.

Whether it is justified or not, people will attribute the issues they face to the people in power.

Crime is rising, following an extended campaign to defund and demonize the police.

Inflation is out of control, and our already-over-taxed salaries arent carrying us as far as they did even two years ago.

There are reports of a drastic spike in southern border crossings, at a time when overdose deaths among Americans are spiking and, news flash, a large percentage of our narcotics come from Mexico.

Were funneling money into Ukraine, with no foreseeable real benefit to the American people.

Gas prices continue to rise, eating further into the take-Home money of working Americans.

Among other issues, these things will make anyone consider a regime change.

Because people are dumb and times are hard.

But they just gave $40 billion dollars to Ukraine. Granted that passed with bipartisan support for some fucking reason. But clearly, those in power, (who, to the average person is the democrats.), don't actually give a shit about Americans. Then let's take a peep at the $28M baby formula bill that was just introduced. Why is $23M of it dedicated to congress people's salary? What the fuck?

I'm not taking a stance personally, as my reason for not liking democrats is not what I've stated. I'm just trying to imagine how this looks to an average person.
