In the past. Like maybe when you were a little shit of a kid. Or maybe something you did as an adult that was irresponsible and turned out badly. Or a time you didn't act fast enough.

Yes. Twice specifically.

The first was during some kind of Boy Scout event (one of my brothers' events). I was a kid, I'd seen Short Circuit, and I wanted to reenact the bit where Number 5 jumped on a grasshopper, so I jumped on a frog. The people around me gave me shit about it, and I regret that to this day.

The second one was a pet bird I got for one of my birthdays. I was ill-suited to having my own pet, and that poor bird put up with a lot of mistreatment and neglect before it died. I was a bad pet owner and I've had reservations about getting a pet of my own since then.

I didn't kill or hurt any pets but I still regret when I lost my patience a few times and yelled at em.

I'm definitely indirectly guilty, but basically my parents (especially my Mom) were horrendous when it came to pets. They loved to get them, but stopped taking care of them once they became a 'burden.'

I'd say the biggest one I feel guilty for would be the dog my mom got me. I only spent about one week per month at my Mom's so I never really get to see my dog much to begin with. Eventually though things at my Moms gradually got worse and worse and my Dad ended up getting full custody of me. So I pretty much just abandoned my dog over there and I hate thinking about it.

No, I've treated pets well. Though I do regret killing some spiders and cockroaches.

I regret more or less ignoring the best cat I ever had for the first month or so we had her because I was annoyed that my parents were replacing my old cat who had died

I do think about if there was anything I could have done different with my previous cat that died last year at 9 years old from hyperthyroidism

She was on medication for like 6 months and eventually just stopped eating. I wonder if I pushed harder for the radioactive treatment if she could she could have survived longer.

Honestly my biggest regret is this one I have now. I used to think he was just a mean cat since he'd lash out and bite sometimes but he had this tail twitch and eventually that was looked into. Apparently this is a nerve problem cats can get and he needed gabapentin.

I mean I wasn't cruel to him but he's such a nice cat (usually-- he still gets ornery rarely he does have a personality on him and sometimes I assume he probably doesn't get his full dose proper but actual hard biting is rare) now.

I feel bad that I didn't get him meds sooner. I imagine that nerve problem was really lowering his quality of life for his first couple of years.

not generally, but I mishandled a situation with the neighbor's cat recently. He came in the house because I'd left the door for mine, and I didn't properly read him when I was trying to extract him. I got scratched badly, not because he was mad at me, but because he was freaked out, and then I got mad and chased after him, leading with my foot. I...may have actually kicked him.

We declawed my cats, and while I didn't treat them particularly badly, there are things I know now that my folks and I didn't when I was a kid. Hoping to get another shot someday.

Oh, there is this. My first two cats were declawed. I've gotten one since and haven't done that to her, but given how much she scratches on everything even when she's being good, I don't regret the decision. As long as you're claiming permanent responsibility for your cat...and you have a vet that can perform a laser procedure rather than traditional surgery...it's not the worst thing. (Though I know others will disagree. And no, you don't have to explain to me why.)

I gave my 11 year old dog a bath and I got a good amount of water in his ears because I was in a rush. Shortly after that, maybe a day or two, we noticed for the first time he was losing his hearing. Over the years he lost more and more. At 13yo now, hes 90% deaf. The vet told us it was old age and not wax or anything else.

Its probably age. But it was a pretty big coincidence. And I think about it a lot, for some reason.
