Welcome to hell!

The minimum wage during the Great Depression translates to $400 a week. Today minimum wage, outside of one or two States which may have raised it substantially, is less than $300 a week.

The average cost of a home during the Great Depression, translated in todays money, would be about $70,000. The average cost of a home today is $400,000.

Fucking restaurant managers in the UK, even with all their Brexit BS and inflation, pays twice as much as it does in the US AND they get 6 weeks paid vacation.

The fucking US is where corporations go to make so much money its robbery. And the people just take it. The media has kept them talking about transgender bathrooms, and pipelines for almost 20yrs meanwhile the ultra rich loot the place.

A quote from a Steven Lehto vido:

> I apologize this is long but...

To assert rights in our adversarial system, you just have to assert them. They will challenge you, they will f with you to get you to back down; the same as police. The reason is if they can get you to relinquish rights at the roadside, the court (appellate court) will say you cannot now claim them in court. Because the court system you are in is not under common law, but are statutory courts under statutory law.

It is the same system from which ran early "pilgrim's" from the British legal system of the 1600's and political persecution. The Law Merchant. This system has been foisted upon our people since the 1913 Federal Reserve Act and its partner 1935 Social Security Act which together with the 14th Amendment creation of a New Type of citizenship, and finally the Act of 1871, was put into place after the US Bankruprcy in 1935, beginning in 1938

With the Tompkins vs Erie Railroad where the principal of standing made it imposible to sue absent a contract with the person against whom the claim was made. Tompkins was injured by a board sticking out of a rail car. Ultimately the Supreme Court ruled in essence, since Tomkins was nit engaged with Erie RR, he did not have standing to sue. So today, all kinds of evil can be done where injury is difficult to prove, like mass surveillance, and you have to prove it but you can't because "standing" kills your ability to obtain evidence through discovery.

With all due respect, idgaf about where a trans persons wants to go to the bathroom. Its really not even an issue. No one in here has any idea how many times theyve used a public restroom with a F2M trans person with them. Its not serious.

But the elite got us talking about made up BS for YEARS. Before you know it were old and/or dead and nothing got accomplished.

just armchair hypothesizing but doesn't it make sense for housing costs to rise over time (independent of inflation)? space is scarce, and population centers just grow and grow in land value.

it's a problem, not sure what the solution is.

But the rate of land development and housing (divided by average family size) is growing faster than the rate of population

edit: IE housing is now LESS scarce

not sure if true, but _space_ is scarce and the value of the housing would be based on the value of the space it occupies.

Except none of this was Biden's fault. You can't blame the current president for something caused by the previous administration. Biden is doing everything he can to fix the fuck ups of Trump. Now if you want to keep sucking Trump's dick then go right ahead, but don't be surprised when you catch several STDs.

I have a condo. Besides, that doesnt even matter in the context here. How this country is run, compared to European nations, is ultra crap.

I gripe because for years I bought into the lie that gets drilled into all of us when were young that this nation is the greatest in the world. And in reality its really not. Unless you mean military-wise, in which case, yeah we spend more on it than anyone else.

You're right about the US being the place to go for corps to make money and to get cheap labor because now it's cheaper to bring people in from all over the globe than it is to outsource plus outsourcing was beginning to be problematic because company manufacturing processes were being ripped off.

lolwut? It's a lot more than "one or two states." Over half the country has a minimum wage set higher than the federal and, much more importantly, right now very few employers are just paying the minimum because workers are at a premium.

HornedLion posted...

Not even sure what you were trying to say. If you're suggesting managers get paid more in the UK than the US, I'd want to see some substantiation.

HornedLion posted...
The average cost of a home during the Great Depression, translated in todays money, would be about $70,000. The average cost of a home today is $400,000.

That's deceptive because the mega-rich have even more luxurious homes which skew the average. If you take that out, the number iirc is closer to $210k and it's worth noting that homes today are held to far more rigorous building standards (whereas a lot of homes in the great depression would be condemned under modern zoning standards). Not to mention GD homes often didn't have electricity or even indoor plumbing (or modern indoor plumbing, since they still had things like cisterns), both of which drive up the prices -- as does air conditioning. Hell, you had homes build back then that didn't even have flooring on the ground floor.

Comparing the price of housing then vs now is idiotic because they're not even close to being the same kind of homes. It's like suggesting vehicles cost far more nowadays by comparing a bicycle to a car.
