I like the English version of Kaze no Ne (6.5), but I was floored by how much more I like the Japanese version (8). I don't know what it is, but I feel hypnotized when I listen to it. That drumbeat and harp, and those vocals just flow perfectly along with the rest of it. It's my second favorite song in A1 (third was Ghost Ship Painting oops).

CLD suffers from being a Game Boy song, and while it's not terrible, it doesn't go anywhere after a somewhat interesting beginning. ISD is a lot of fun and definitely goes places. I feel like I like this song more than the first time I listened to it too, which is nice.

MWTS sounds a little like a normal pop song. Not a bad one, thankfully. Mechonis Field reminds me of Metroid Prime music for some reason. Tough match, since both of these are solid but not amazing.

I played Forgotten Land since I first heard Blizzard Bridge, and I seem to like the song more now. It's not entirely my thing, but it has some neat parts. Kaze no Ne is boring...

Its still so surreal to me that this is the same ichiro shimakura that did one of my long time fav game osts (froggers adventures: the rescue). I never pllayed this game despite how into pokemon stuff i am; but i did listen to the music ever since i found out how to listen to vgm on the internet. Mechonis field always reminds me of 80s-00s tangerine dream but there is no indication that that was an inspiration; instead there is indication that it was inspired by metroid. Definitely one of my fav xenoblade tracks im aware of. Maybe especially with my current inclinations toward slow moody electronic stuff. Wooooa, there is polymeter in this, i never noticed that before until just now (may 20th, 2022)

The amount kaze no ne rises in my vgm favorites every time i listen, astounds me. FF Crystal Chronicles is like the anime version of mannheim steamroller and im all for it!

Pretty neat sounding chiptune from Club Leader Duel today, although I wish the melody had a little more variety to it. Thankfully it still has this fun energy going for it, if the song was any slower I don't think it would have been as good.

HOLY CRAP DRAGON. Hearing this for the first time 10 seconds in, I knew I was gonna enjoy this. A insanely fast tempo with synths flying everywhere, giving me some good head-bopping energy with some dubstep mixed in for good measure. Solid song, I'm so happy this is in for this year!

Moon without the Stars is pretty cute honestly, I really like the early 2000's pop style it has going for it. The vocalist does it justice and all, really good song.

Mechonis Field has got those huge space-y, trippy vibes I really enjoy from time to time. Really good use of synths here, succeeds enough in bringing that futuristic atmosphere needed for a game like Xenoblade.

This matchup is so unfair. It just is, alright?

When I picked up Forgotten Land and got to the world where Blizzard Bridge is located in, I would have never expected Kirby to go full PROG on me in front of an isolated bridge buried by years of frozen climate. The keyboards are insane in this song, and the constant switch-ups just keep me invested in this addicting piece. For the love of god, give me a keyboard and I swear I'll learn how to play this in a month or so.

I love Middle Eastern-adjacent rhythms/instruments in songs, and Kaze no Ne relieves that itch so well for me. The singer is a very good match for this and mixes well with the rest of the performance to create that mystical vibe I really enjoy here. Not that I don't enjoy harsher tones in music in this style (very far from the truth), but I really appreciate the softness I feel from the vocals and other instruments, I think it's a great choice that helps this great piece stand out more.

I like Game Boy music and would vote it over anything that I'm neutral towards, but Imaginary Shopping District is a very "me in VGMC" song. Seems like this is the type of thing that I latch onto every year out of all the new discoveries in the bracket.

Day 2 and already almost missing matches, that's always a good sign. I would have talked about Imaginary Shopping District today, I think, but I guess I'll just hope that I get another chance to later. This third match is probably the toughest for me to deal with until Bracket B.

MATCH 1

Club Leader Duel is a fine song. Nothing too special, but it's nice to listen to.

If only I liked Imaginary Shopping District as much as Isoleucine. Still, this song holds my interest more than its opponent. 0:33-0:54 is my favorite part of the song. It's the most melodically structured part of the song to me, if that makes any sense.

The 2000's pop comparisons is what I was thinking as well for Moon Without the Stars lol. I really like this song though! I didn't put it in my support considerations playlist, but I probably should have because I would have been willing to, but I definitely did not have room to do so. I guess I like these kinds of heartfelt songs. The chorus in particular is my favorite part of the song, so it's a good thing that it repeats a lot throughout the song.

Mechonis Field was never my favorite Xenoblade song, but it's a pretty decent song. I've always been more into the energetic Xenoblade songs like You Will Know Our Names. It makes sense then that I like 1:24-2:16 the most in this song where it starts to pick up more.

I feel like I can enjoy songs in a similar style as The Battle of Blizzard Bridge, but this song doesn't really do anything for me. Pretty average song in my view, but I don't really mean that in a bad way. I just don't have strong feelings on it one way or the other.

Kaze no Ne is an overall good song. It's no secret that I'm a fan of folky songs like this, so even though there are plenty of songs out there similar to Kaze no Ne that I like a lot more, it's something I like quite a bit and is a clear choice in this match.

Club Leader Duel is just some really, really good GB music. Very memorable track that takes advantage of the hardware's limitations extremely well. I like ISD (ISOLEUCINE 2 is a a very good genre name, lol), but it just doesn't feel as cohesive as Club Leader Duel even after considering the impressive nature of that one, making it a pretty easy pick for me.

I like Moon without the Stars's music and lyrics for the first half of the song. The lyrics are really draining on me by the end of it, though.

Running out of time for the vote, so I'm just going to finish by saying that the bit at 1:50 of Mechonis Field I'm /incredibly/ fond of.
