Point of the matter is that cops could have done something, but like always, they didn't.

This seems like the ideal topic for weeding out which posters you try to save yourself, which you try to get help for, and which you just point and laugh at as they beg for your help.

Point of the matter is that cops could have done something, but like always, they didn't.

I would think in this sort of case minus not having a lifesaver or floating device in the squad car, jumping into a river or lake of some kind after someone might be more life threatening in this case. Since it be harder to fight against nature then it is to fight an active shooter.

Granted I do think that of what the cops said at the start would make them come off more scummy and that these ones need to be fired for it.

The cops were absolutely correct in not going in after the guy.

But they were also absolutely dicks about it and they didn't need to be.

Cops are not meant to protect Americans the supreme court ruled that so why we continue to pay them

Nearly drowned, i pulled a rescuer down with me before i realizing what happened.

I know how to swim and panicked when i got caught in a riptide. Never had that happen to me before and it nearly cost me my life and the life of another as he tried to help me. I get why they didnt go in to rescue as i had experience of nearly drowning and almost taking another person down to drown with me.

So riptide caught me after being 4 hrs in the water. It was a typical swim at the beach day for me that day. I didnt feel tired or out of breath from body surfing. Ive been to the beach body surfing throughout my life. Heard of people drowning at the same beach. Didnt know i would come close to being that next person.

Being caught in a riptide. I didnt feel pulled away. One moment i was surfing, following the waves. The next moment i panicked after not being able to keep head afloat and seeing how far ive gone. Then wave after wave just kept crashing over me. Never felt my life as threatened as that moment. It felt like i was fighting the ocean. It took more effort to stay afloat. I tried following the waves back but i was being pulled and dragged out wave after wave. I felt my energy being exhausted. My arms and legs burned. I lost my breath. I remember gasping for air & even taking in water Because i was out of air.

I know I was wide eyed underwater sinking. There felt a moment where my body was burning in exhaustion from arms and legs no more. It felt like indidnt need to breathe anymore. I looked up and saw the light shimmering as if i was looking down at the water in the ocean. I waved my hands and there was an afterimage of it in motion. I felt my feet on a rock or something. I remember looking down seeing myself in 3rd person looking at my hand. I tried peering into the distance but it was dark after a time. I drifted somewhere as i felt being float sensation. I remember thinking if theyll ever find me...

I dont know how much time passed. The next thing i hear was someone calling for me. It woke me up. I looked up and saw the light underwater. I began going towards that light. A moment later i was swimming up. I remember coughing in the water. My body was like moving on its own desperate to surface. My name kept being called. I heard cries for me.

I breached the surface of the ocean. My body filled itself with air. Deep breaths. He came over to help me but i used him to bring me up higher away from the surface of the water before i knew what i was doing. I heard him struggle. It didnt register to me. I was still fighting for air. Then i saw his eyes. Thats when i brought him up as best i can. We were drowning each other and we backed away from each other. He said to swim to him as we pulled apart to each other. All i could say was im so sorry in broken words catching my breath. I swam directly to the beach, muscles aching and burning. This time it wasnt my life depended on it. The ocean was a lil bit calmer this time. I made it to the sand like a zombie and collapsed in exhaustion. There was a crowd of people around us. A team of lifeguards made their way to us...

The main reason why they didnt jump in was because theres a turbine where is he at and the guy more than likely got sucked in there almost immediately.

But ya know, the CE standard. All cops should jump high as fuck with heavy gear and boots, swim, and save a person from a turbine in the water

Why does CE always expect cops to be life guards? They have about 20 lbs of equipment strapped to them and are not trained to pull someone lashing around frantically out of water. They could drown themselves.

This isn't the first time you guys have posted this type of story as some sort of "Gotcha!" moment.

And put yourself or others in even more potential risk? Sorry bit dealing with nature is a very big unknown and danger here, this isnt the whole active shooter we better not go in cluster fuck that we see here. The only dick head thing they did was their stupid comments.

They spent time mocking the drowning man instead of calling for help. They didn't have to personally jump in, but mocking him was basically them waiting for him to die.

Any person with a conscience wouldn't be able to watch someone drown and do nothing. But that's not new for cops.

Same. But I'd call for help. I wouldn't be mocking someone as they're dying. The fact that the cops didn't do either is what's the problem.

It's hard to have compassion for people who run from the cops. Especially the ones what use motor vehicles and put others in harm's way

If he got sucked down immediately how did they have a conversation with him after he swam away? Also maybe cops shouldn't mock a drowning guy and threaten to arrest his girlfriend for freaking out while they watch him die. Is that to much to ask?

Theres no fucking turbines under the footbridge, theyre downstream a bit. And the lake has no current, and theres safety nets in place, so its a non-factor.

Well gee if it's not dangerous at all then why didn't he swim back
