Congratulations to 22-year-old designer Alejandro Nez Vicente, who recently introduced his nightmarish vision for the future of air travel at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany.

This chaise longue seating is monstrous for various reasons. First of all, the farts. Airplanes are already fart tubes, but can you imagine enduring an entire flight with someones butt inches from your face? Its like air travel designed by Hieronymus Bosch. Perhaps Vicente has planned for this eventuality, via odor-reducing charcoal cushions of the sort recommended recently by kindly Slate sex advice columnist Rich Juzwiak. But theres also the difficulty of getting in and out of the lower level, the challenge of reading a book or using a laptop, and the intense claustrophobia caused by being crammed into, basically, an MRI chamber from OHare to Miami.

Do you really want to place your head near the persons arse? All it takes is one fart to ruin the flight experience of these "Bunk Seats".

This is a horrible design!

At least with Hexagonal / Inverted seating arrangements, you get far more benefits with minimal downsides.

With inverted seating arrangements:

• No more elbow wars with your neighbors
• No more shimmy to get into your seat where you have to look at your neighbors Front/Arse
• You don't have to worry about your neighbors falling asleep on your shoulders
• It's faster to ingress/egress into your seat because the seats automically lift up due to a simple spring mechanism in the seat, just like movie theater seating.
• Less obstruction from your neighbors to view the window if you're in the aisle or middle seat.
• More privacy with a more difficult position for your neighbor to view what you're doing on your device due to inverted layout. Especially for the person in the middle who is inverted.

Finally a way to fart into the faces of people with less money than me.
